A better look at the APR Forged prototypes:

As a side note, liking the matte grey as a wrap choice.

The APR's look similar to the BBS F1 wheel.
Look good and easy to clean, now we just need to see the price.

Those BBS are magic wheels - 19 inch and 7.4kg - but to get a set might hit five figures.

Then again, APR USA Marketing Manager Arin Ahnell didn't deny on golfmk7 forum that the APR wheels, if they hit production, will be priced at the premium end as well.

Hey Dutch, I'm looking at a nice black 17" rim that might work for the original 17" rubber from a Mk7 Golf diesel wagon...2 reasons, recycle rubber and maintain ride quality. Any ideas? Cheers

How long is a piece of string?

    Budget, and style preference?

Budget = budget to moderate (ie no BBS), style well I like Oz racing ultraleggas in matte black so something similar tho more in the 'value' isle! Also Mk6 talledeggas/reps might be good (or similar) Do these type of rims oem/reps come in OEM fitting 17's? Thanks!

A couple of options ex UK:

Team Dynamics Le Mans in matte black - has some Talladega overtones, Team Dynamics are a decent wheel, trouble is freight/duties/taxes push it up to about $1550 (buying overseas works better on the next rung up on the wheel ladder I reckon): Team Dynamics Lemans Matt Black Wheels | Team Dynamics Lemans Matt Black Alloys | Performance Alloys.com ® The Alloy Wheel Experts ™.

Fox Racing FX005 in grey - not sure if there is a black version, but these replicate the BBS FI discussed above, probably around $1400: Fox Racing FX005 Grey Wheels | Fox Racing FX005 Grey Alloys | Performance Alloys.com ® The Alloy Wheel Experts ™.

Local budget/reps - Mk7 GTI look in 17 inch, this package comes with tyres to boot for $984 so I'm sure they'd do the rims for $700-750: 17x7.5 VGT

I just don't think I'd want to put cheap reps on a new Golf. I'd aim to increase the budget OR consider grabbing a set of OEM 17s off another VAG vehicle and consider powder coating to black. There just isn't much in a 17 inch size otherwise in black, even reps.

If you like a lightweight wheel with a little stretch and a black five spoke these are decent - Neuspeed RSe05 in 17 inch, but again the freight hurts, these would be about $1850: GROUP BUY: NEUSPEED RIMS: 17” RSe05; 18” RSe12 and 19” RSe14 – Multiple Finishes - VW GTI MKVI Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVI Forum / VW GTI Forum - Golfmk6.com

or.. save a little for what you like - OZ Ultraleggera in matte black 17 inch for $2000. I'm biased though.

OZ created the Mito Rosso III as a tribute to Ferrari wheel design and can be ordered with an OZ centre cap but is designed to slot the Ferrari cap straight in. Total cost around $7,500.

Thanks Dutch, I am having my dealer price up the VW Motorsport 18" black but I imagine with the wheels and rubber added on it could get ugly (will let you know how ugly tomorrow).

Wonder how the 17" Dijons would look powdercoated gloss black?

Have seen these on a MK7 Golf somewhere, 17' Sparco Assetto Gara Black Painted, very similar to the Ultralegga but a bit cheaper, they look pretty good (US$592 plus shipping, taxes etc):

Any issues buying from Tirerack as far as you're aware?

I'd be interested to know the price of the VW Motorsport 18's by themselves.

Re tirerack, only issue I have heard is re tyres. Some of the guys on the 1addicts forum had some issues where they could not get Michelin PSS's sent to Aus. Michelin AU complained and Michelin US told Tirerack they were not allowed to ship to Aus. The other issue is finding tyre fitter not to charge a fortune. I've heard between $25 and $40 per tyre to fit them if they have been purchase from Tirerack.
