ET of 50 is required to make an 8.5" work on a MK7 correctly.
Thanks Guy - I put that at 12mm extra poke over stock GTI (+6mm over stock R) which sounds pretty reasonable to me.

I'll update the earlier 'illegal' posts, and not comment when we are around that 12mm mark.

Excuse me for butting in on the Golf Thread, but would these rims (that fit the Golf) also fit an Octavia RS Mk 2? Those Oettinger rims that Guy posted have got me interested.....although I almost fell off my chair when I saw the price!!!

No problems - the more the merrier.

You would generally not have any issues with any of the Golf fitments given PCD and CB are the same, I can't imagine the guard gap would be materially different, but always worth checking. Given the Neptune wheels are 18x7.5 ET51 from the factory then this would support that theory.

Can I suggest we do the same for tyre options as well?

According to my research, 235/35R18 are load rated at 86 on the tire rack website. These aren't even close to legal. 91 minimum for Golf R as far as I know. Remember that tyre fitters are under no legal obligation to ensure that you are fitting compliant tyre/wheel combos to your car and will therefore sell you anything you ask for. It won't come back to bite them.

Maybe a photo of the tyre placard should be put at the start of the thread to help people with this?

Yep, happy to add this as well.. hoping this thread can contain as much useful info as possible for people, while still showing off different styles for guidance. Had a quick google search but didn't find anything neat and tidy - can anyone source and provide? I'll either edit the opening post or link to relevant reply.

Yes, from what Oettinger & VWR tell me, they fit the MQB chassis Octavia perfectly.

Price? - You have to remember these are German made & TUV approved (made by BBS or Ronal) in Oettinger's case, and the VWR wheels are made in the UK.

They are shipped here, duty & taxes paid, GST added and sold. They are not a high profit item at all.

When our Golf R gets here shortly, I'll photograph the tyre placard sticker compared to my new GTI. There are some variances (including the highline & Performance pack variants) that have different ratings on them. The Amarok's they change the placard model to model when fitting different (legal) tyre combinations to different versions to make sure everything lines up.

Hopefully some better pictures show up of this or other cars running the OZ ST LMs. I'll admit my bias having fitted them to my Mk6 - I've guessed the specs on this car as these definitely look to be 19s - this won't be a legal fitment. However the 18 x 8 ET48s I had on my Mk6 are fine (although lowered I got front end rub.. fender screw mod probably would have fixed this), you can even go with an OEM sized fitment of 18 x 7.5 ET50 if you like and save a couple of dollars.

Speaking of which if you're after OZ and weighing up the local v overseas options I've found the local option weighing up pretty well still (as it did last year when I bought for my Mk6). PM for further info if desired.

Note: not a legal fitment in Australia

While the above might not be quite legal, as per the ST LMs there are friendly 18 x 7.5 ET50 and 18 x 8 ET48 fitments available. These wheels, finished here in grigio corsa with centre cap, also come with exposed bolts, and a matt black finish with or without centre cap.
