Sliiiiiick…
I've been deliberating on some wheels for my (coming) Golf R Special Edition in Lapiz Blue. As a daily driver, I wanted some 18" robust wheels that looked great and didn't cost too much. With help from Dutch77 and a few other members on the forum, I narrowed my choices down to several wheels around the $2K mark most notably the BBS SX and BBS SR, as well as Rotiform FLG. Due to the unavailability of the Rotiforms, or at least the unknown availability, I decided on one of the BBS options.
To decide though, I needed to break open the Photoshop and work them up. Due to the intricate angles of the spokes and the way the light hits them, as well as the angle for seeing through to the brake calipers, it's extremely difficult to get a realistic looking wheel with a stock image from a wheel manufacture and transplant onto a car. It's always best to find images as close as possible to what you want then tweak that. Here are the results of my twerking (not a typo) to help with my decision:
First, the SR in diamond cut. Was not able to find these wheels on a Lapiz Blue golf, however there were a few pics of the right size (!!). Here's the color change from a pale blue to Lapiz on correct wheels:

Next the SX. Most images I found for the SX in black were Winter wheels from the US at 17x7.5. To get an accurate visual I enlarged the rim in Photoshop by 5.71429%. Here's the result for the SX:

Ultimately I've decided on the SX in black. I think it makes the lapiz blue look bad-arse. Also, I saw an almost identical knock-off SR wheel on a Toyota in Footscray (Melb) a couple days ago…
Look forward to posting final pics when everything's fitted and running.
You've got my lame pics covered.
What are the odds this bloke would park in exactly the same spot later after swapping to his two-spokers. :PQuote:
