Best bet will be a second hand set - OEM or similar if you want to keep it clean, particularly at 17 inch. The after market gear will probably generally be 18 inch and up.

I'd like to get away with $1000 (for just rims, not tyres) but I don't know how realistic that is... I think what I want and what I can pay for are a little different haha.

I know this thread is about wheels but I'm also trying to decide between black or white euro plates and I feel like what will look best could depend on what wheels I go with too. So hard to choose.

Everyone has a budget - if there is any chance of stretching higher then I'd be looking at a set of VMRs.. however keeping an eye out on the classifieds here and on the other Golf forum will regularly chuck up some second hand gear at the $1k mark which is still going to be vastly preferable to the rubbish the discount places sell.

Could always consider supporting the Aussie option with ROH.

Assuming that's your white Golf then the plates can go either way - but I could see black plates with black wheels as an option.
