Agreed - although my opinion has now shifted a little. The FF15 is a classier looking wheel than the ST LM, whereas the ST LM is a more aggressive sports style wheel. It would depend on whether I was building the exec express look, or the sportscar look.

Speaking of black HREs, a set of RS103s which are forged 3 piece wheels:

You'll be well into a five figure price to land these locally I suspect.

Yup, very true. Although I wouldn't do the exec express thing with black rims, even on a black car, personally - otherwise it'd be inherently too aggressive. FF15 in silver would be excellent for that. I imagine they'd suit a BMW 5 or 7 series quite well (someone chasing the Alpina look perhaps).

I agree - black wheels rules you out of class and straight into sports.

Despite my ongoing criticisms of black I will still be doing a set. One day. Mk8 perhaps.

Wow, this is one comprehensive thread! I posted in the MK6 wheel/tyre/rim thread but @AdamD suggested I jump over here as it's more active.

I have an MK6 GTI in Reflex Silver and looking at some wheel options and would love your thoughts, opinions and experiences on the following wheels - quality, value, style etc. I'm liking the style of the rims below at the moment. If any of you actually have these wheels I'd love to see some pics, especially if you have a Reflex Silver Golf.

I already have 18" Detroits, so I think I'll be stepping up to 19". I'm only new to the mod scene to be honest, so I'd appreciate any insight the more experienced modders can offer

Avant Garde M310 - I've been told these are a far higher quality wheel than the VMR's?

*I don't mind the look of the Watkins Glen alloys if anyone knows of 19" reps? I also seem to be fond of alloys that include some black, like the Detroits or the Hartmanns, which I think looks good with the black touches on the body (diffuser, grill etc) - all of which I'm thinking I might repaint gloss black (also, still undecided if I'll keep the colour coded side mirrors or replace with gloss black set like the R).

    Related to the above...

Dutch, any chance you can reach into your magic hat and find a picture of a white GTI on 19" Cadiz wheels? I'm finding some on Carbon but bupkis in white. I was keen on a trade but the pics I'm finding are not really doing it for me. I know you dislike the Santiago wheels quite a bit, but I've grown rather attached haha.

    Welcome to The Show.

I think reflex silver gives you the choice of sticking with silver wheels, or going black and even grey.

I'd give a tick to the VMR 710s, they're a known quantity and as far as a 'rep' brand go have a good reputation with no major issues reported that I am aware of besides sometimes the black finish being prone to chipping.

The Hartmann's aren't really known here being an American based rep brand, they basically rep the VAG group as well as a few other Euros and again I believe their stuff is reasonable for the price based on the USA forums over time.

I would steer clear of the cheap stuff from the discount places unless you're only going for show; I appreciate branded wheels are not cheap and so the rep stuff is tempting but if budget is a concern I'd carefully scour the classifieds here and related sites as good quality second hand sets come up now and then, or at least spring for something like the VMRs.

Supreme Power run a group buy in the USA on Neuspeed which do a mesh wheel like you are after that have a sterling reputation, light weight and even take the VW cap back in for an OEM look. They will be more than VMR but will still be a bit less than a 'brand'.
