They might look ok but geez this mob really ticks me off - that OX cap is specifically designed to rip off OZ and yeah I have a bias to the REAL THING.
I will mock OX drivers MORE than PP owners who retain their Santiagos. No smiley, I'm serious.
You will be pretty much fine with the same fitments as the Mk7 although if you're going for anything slightly beyond I'd clarify with the Octavia guys.
Great choice of car and look - suggestions will be highly budget dependent though.
I would highly recommend OZ, there is an awesome set for sale right now in 18 x 8 ET48.

What Brad said, he knows more about this stuff than the rest of the posters on this thread put together.
But heck, even he is saying 18 x 8 ET48 would be fine, and the HLT cast OZs are pretty light. OK, shameless plug over again.
Back to regular programming, some VMRs in a fitment that wouldnt be legal locally unless played with, 19 x 8.5 ET35:

From what I can work out, the Octavia is opposite to a Golf, so what would poke at the rear of a Golf is fine on an Octy & what would poke at the front of an Octy fits fine on a Golf.
IOW: the Golf has more room under the front guards & the Octy has more room under the rear.
geez, those VMRs look good!
edit: The wheels Dutch has for sale are very nice. Worth a 2nd look & a solid fitment.
I like Oz, Speedlines, Enkei & Team Dynamics but there are plenty of other nice looking & lightweight wheels out there. I note that Tire Rack appear to have relaunched their house brand TRMotorsport and a very lightweight (and cheap) Kosei.
Koya are worth a look too
A lightweight 18x8 will be around 8.5kg at best and you'll be paying $450/wheel upwards.
A lightweight 17x8 will be around 7.5 kg (easily attained) and the price starts around $250

Can't fault the information above as always.
I haven't been a huge fan of the 701 but they actually do work pretty well on that car.

When Cadiz meet pothole:
By the way no suggestion of wheel issues here, just a case of what happens when a pothole is hit at 55mph.
On the flipside the owner was able to ditch the Cadiz which he didn't like anyway and instead grabbed a set of the new Rotiform SPFs which seem to be quickly gaining popularity on the Mk7:
