I run 657mm on a lowered Skoda Octavia that originally came with 205/55r16. They rub on hard cornering because I've got 7.5" ET45 (4mm more outward poke than your rims). 4mm doesn't sound like much but it does make a difference at that diameter.
Your width / offset & tyre diameter will be perfect
To be honest I didn't even know 205/45r18 was an available size.
Rockin the old school look with BBS RS:

not sure if fitment would work ok? Just keep in mind repairing the polished alloys is significantly harder and more expensive than painted wheels
I think you'll find they are three piece forged Rotiform SNAs - because I believe they are the wheels that were also fitted to the Mk7 Golf featured early in this thread by H&R.
I've also seen that Mk6 R fitted with the BBS RS above so this supports my thoughts on their wheel swaps.
ET43 is pushing it on a x 8.5 wheel without some work - avdo's Rays were ET44 and without mods he had a little front wheel poke. I'd say the 245 rubber would cause some rub issues on the guards too.
Pity although I guess the price is reflecting the damage and ordinary rubber.
A few more recent shots of the 'prototype' APR wheels although there are no plans for production at this stage:

being a huge wheel fan just like you, Dutch, I should say those APR wheels bear strong resemblance with an Audi wheel used in some S6 and A6 S Line, and I found a set reasonably priced, almost got them, they're 18 x 8 ET 48, I like their style
There's probably a huge weight difference.
I just bought an OEM set of S3 wheels that look similar. 18x8 ET54. They weigh 21kg with a 225/40r18 Bridgestone RE050A tyre. There's a lot of room for improvement in weight there.
edit: I agree about the 19x8.5 ET44 having too much poke. It needs to be back around ET51 for an 8.5" rim

hey brad
we're almost with the same package !
your wheels are quite like mine in terms of design, and coincidentally, yesterday I've placed an order for a set of the same tyres, still don't know if they will be able to actually sell them, the store is from another state, but the order is there
:)
