so, the deal is done
the Q3 wheels should be here next week
surprisingly, their center bore is the same 57,1 found in our cars

now, the question is about the tyres, here they're quite expensive, the only thing for sure, they will be 225/40 R18

the best option I found here in terms of price and performance, Dunlop Sport Maxx 88Y, for 605,00 or AUD 239,00

I also found P Zero Nero with the same price range, 680,00 and P Zero XL slightly more expensive than both, at 785,00
but the authorised dealers where I found them, they don't ship to my state for commercial reasons, due to state taxes here they cost 30 % more

anyway, I will wait and also your opinions are welcome

There's a fair range in pricing over here as well - and certainly a group of buyers who have been able to purchase overseas at times.. although I suspect with the drop in the AUD that may reduce.

It might be worth a search through the GTI/R areas and wheels/suspension areas for more detailed commentary - however it's worth noting that different manufacturers sometimes use the same or similar branding in different parts of the world for two quite different tyres. I'd guess the equivalent Brazilian forums will be the best source, although your own opinion has got to count too.

the aforementioned tyres are all the same offered abroad, those P Zero are usually made in Italy, the Dunlop I think is japanese or southern asian made, those prices were converted at the present currency, AUD 1,00 BRL 2,50 or something

the only locally made is the Pirelli Phantom, and I had them on the previous Golf, it's a hard compounded, soft structured tyre, tends to blister and wear unevenly

regarding the brazilian forums, they don't have much use when it comes to tyres, people are using low quality chinese unknown tyres, also, aside the honourable exceptions, they don't have the technical approach found at these international forums

It sounds like you're looking at max/extreme performance summer tyres. I'd definitely have a look at the pricing and availability of the following tyres:
- Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2
- Bridgestone Potenza RE002/RE003 (003 is the newer one that has just released in the last month or so)
- Michelin Pilot Sport 3
- Michelin Pilot Super Sport (better dry grip than the PS3 but not as good in the wet)

All these tyres should be more than good enough for some very spirited driving. It's good to see that you understand the importance of quality tyres, too many people try to save too much money and buy used tyres or lower quality ones in the hope of saving a few dollars

the region where I live is packed with hills, tight bends, and long radius fast corners, quite an entertaining ride, therefore I do care for tyres

and I found a reasonably priced Bridgestone Potenza RE 050, also I searched those Eagle F1 but they are very expensive with the USD BRL currency spike, almost 50 % more than the others aforementioned

It's a pretty new design but I expect pics will surface in the USA soon - because I think it's a nice design and I do love gunmetal as a color. I think it works particularly well on white.

Although a good looking set of fairly light weight genuine OZs that are for sale would fit the bill even better.
