Nice pictures! Wish we had the option of 4motion here in Australia
Hi!
I have a 1.6 TDI 4motion Golf as i cannot afford the R. The R version costs an absurd amount of money here in Norway! I think the starting price for the R is over 100.000$ AUD.
My question is, does anyone know how wide a wheels one can fit to the 1.6TDI 4motion version? I see people running 9" fronts and 9-9.5" rears. But I can't imagine 9.5" rears would fit. Seems to be a tight fit already, althouth i can fit my finger between the wheel and struts when i tried on a set of 8.5 et 42.
My car has been mentioned in page 26 and 86. But with wrong stats on the wheels.
I'm currently running a set of BBS CH 19x8,5 ET 35 on the car in summer and

Oh, and even though it's just a 1.6TDI, one can still have fun in the wintermonths here in Norway

Martin, welcome to VWW and great to see the owner of this clean ride getting on here. My apologies for the wrong wheel stats - I was really just taking a stab and playing it safe.
I am pretty conservative on wheel fitments, however this thread has featured some pretty wild combinations. The 9.5 rears would only be with a lot (LOT) of camber and would still have poke - which is a no-no here but I believe ok in certain Euro countries. Of course there is still the issue of rub on the inside, and while I ended up running this thread I am by no means an expert on fitment unfortunately.
If you do any further changes or find out more information feel free to post it up directly here.

I tried on a set of BBS LM replica wheels today. 19x8,5 et 42 fits all way round, but the 9,5 et 45 rears dit not
Still a bit more room to the struts, i could fit my fingers between the wheel and the strut.

3SDM is starting to grow on me. Been thinking of trying out the staggered look, but that'll put me in the cop's radar in a blink of an eye.
GTI PP Mk7
My grandma used to say...
The 3SDM stuff looks good and their marketing is solid - nice clean website to check the range out.
As for the police I guess there is always the argument they focus on the Falcodore/Ricer crowd more than the Euros, although as the Euros popularity continues to escalate that theory is having less application. I suppose it's like a tune - push the envelope and you run the warranty risks, same as in wheels or suspension if you're overstepping the road rules. Weigh up clearing the defect and penalties v the look.
Weren't you going to look at multiple wheel sets so you could track etc anyway? That might save some heartache.
Or just grow older like me and play it conservative and very legal lol, and live vicariously through this thread.
