The stock size is 225/40; however in the past I believe people have run 235/40 as it was usually a lot cheaper being a Falcodore sizing. With the 225s becoming common the pricing has come down - there is just over 1% diameter difference so should not be a problem.

Thanks, glad the thread is being enjoyed.

Money no object the M52s look great; but the SRs have definitely grown on me (and others on the list) and are the cheapest entry point to BBS locally. They're fairly heavy from memory being designed originally as a winter wheel, but would be very strong at a guess too.

I'm assuming a photoshopped Cadiz with blacked out sections? Something like that should be the GTI 19 inch option instead of the fugly Santiagos! Depends if you want OEM or want to go aftermarket, but at least this way you could experiment with plastidip without impacting the value of the rims first.

my only complaint with the SR is the lack of spoke milling for that aggressive look - like the R-ID has

i have Wedsports's on my evo which have the spokes milled out, and had to pay extra to have it done on my ADV's on the GTR

They are fairly chunky which I think stems from the fact they were originally intended as a winter wheel and not a sports wheel; given your obvious interest and budget I can't see them meeting your requirements. I'd be looking further up the range or alternatives.

That's easily solved - go to Avant Garde wheels rather than the local AG wheels website, two completely separate entities. The wheels you're keen on are fairly high end, high quality units as opposed to OEM knock offs.

Those particular wheels would be the M590.

I found that build thread on facebook. Owner confirmed 19x8.5 +45 with 5mm spacer in front and 10mm spacer in rear

Rear looks like it'll rub and without a drop will stick out too much with spacers

That offset/width seems to be common mk7 fitment, but does anyone go lower into 40s, even an 8.5 + 40 would be perfect looking at front wheel stance on this car

I've never heard of Avantgarde wheels but shot them off an email for pricing

We are seeing all kinds of fitments being done, and it will only get crazier with the USA in full swing on the GTI and R (oddly they were behind most of the rest of the world on the Mk7). It really depends on how much work you want to do to make it fit here legally, keeping on mind in other parts of the world this is of either no concern or different rules in the first place.

The Mk7 definitely has more room than the Mk6 - so the x 8.5 ET45 is definitely now more common. There is more room in the rear so you will get poke issues on the front first, Avdo had ET44 from memory on his first set of Rays and believe he had a little poke up front (on stock suspension at that stage - he is now on KW DDCs).

I was looking for a fairly conservative setup with some dropped weight so left it at x 8 ET48 and obviously have lots of room spare. Wheels at the corners is fine, but as I'm not chasing a show look it wasn't really an aim for me.

Avante Garde do some good wheels generally aimed at the Euros, I'm assuming you're coming from more of a Jap background. At a guess a set of 19s freighted and with taxes/duties paid is probably pushing into the $4-5k range, although like most higher end wheel companies they do have a spread of pricing. I haven't got a contact for them either so I will stick to admiring pics - but would welcome some posts on here of a local car.

Speaking of Avant Gardes, the below car was being offered up by a USA dealer partially modded - initially with AG M510s before being swapped out for the 3SDM 0.06s in 19 x 8.5:

    The full summary is:

In light of our new Performance and Tuning center here at Smith Volkswagen, we are now offering upgraded cars straight from our dealer. We have here a 2015 GTI S 6Spd that has a tasteful round of performance modifications as well as some aesthetic mods. The car has been completed here at the dealer by certified technicians and will not effect the warranty that comes with the vehicle from the factory.

The Car was originally done with 19x8.5 Avant Garde M510's in Dolphin Grey. However, since the photo was taken we went a different way. We decided to put a set of 19x8.5 3SDM .06's. They look fantastic.

    H&R Street Performace Coilovers
42 Draft Designs Street Series Stainless Downpipe with high flow catalytic converter
XENCN Yellow DRL/high beam headlight bulbs
PIAA Extreme white plus low beam headlight bulbs
    Black GTI Fender side badges
    Black vinyl wrapped grill stripe
35% window tint all the way around
    Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps

This GTI has a base MSRP
    $26,085.00
and our asking price is only
    $31,964

which is less than a fully equipped GTI and it is already awesome looking. If there is something that you do not want on this car. We do of course have the option of ordering a specific vehicle for you and doing this at a very aggressive price.
