:) thanks putting a spirit level on the edge of the tyre strangly it's only looking about 1.5mm ish(to the top of the wheel arch lip) as I was expecting around 4mm,might try again later just to see if the suspension needs settling from jacking up etc,although I had driven the car before I took the spirit level picture.

Still not a big fan, except on the black wagon featured recently. On the plus side I'd imagine they should be cheaper than Talladegas were on the used market, although the bulk of current Mk7 owners locally don't seem so interested in fixing the aesthetics of their ride as they were on the Mk6.
I still say keep an eye on the Neuspeeds, available in bronze which goes a fair way to the gold idea you floated way back:
