It's only my second car ever and my first was a manual too. I'm not sick of it yet I guess, I enjoy driving manual.
My mother would never have let me get the DSG anyway after all that stuff hit the papers! Regardless of how correct her assumptions are haha. My heart was set on manual this time around - auto next time maybe!
Golf 90TSI MY12, DSG, Candy white, Denver alloys, Pirelli P1 cinturato, RCD 510, R-dash led licence plate lights, 35/40% tinted windows, GTI OEM tail lights, fog lights, Etuners stage 1, chrome exhaust tips.
Just took delivery of the 103tsi. It's a beautiful car, so smooth and quiet on the road with enough power to do anything I want.
A bit disappointed that when I asked the sales guy if I need to drive the DSG in a specific way, I was told "no, drive it like a normal auto". I was keen to learn directly from VW rep on how to drive it in a way that it will preserve the supposedly fragile transmission.
The sales guy also told me that I should keep the auto hold function at all time. I find it quite interesting as it doesn't make the car creep forward (or backward in R gear) which is what people recommend not to do with the DSG. With the auto hold function switched on, I just put my gear on neutral and take my foot off the brake pedal when stationary.
Having driven the DSG in my Mk6 not like an auto for 3 years, but also having test driven the 103TSI Mk7 I can tell you it drives a lot more like an auto so there is a bit of truth to what you were told.
No need to put into neutral, after stopping, take foot off brake and hover over accelerator and when ready to go,just press and handbrake flips off.
Same if you have auto hold on although you can modulate brake pedal if only stopping momentarily at a stop sign for instance.
I will probably turn off stop start as finding it a bit of a nuisance for a small fuel useage gain.

A good drive of a Mk7 90 TSI manual won me back over. Will pick up a base model manual with the 16" Toronto wheels off the Comfortline next week. Paid $24200 driveaway so happy with that. Got back almost all of the $2995 dealer delivery. They put a price of $900 on the Comfortline wheels and tyres and taking back the standard steel rims and tyres. I don't know whether that part of it was such a great part of the deal. I had no trade or finance to complicate it.

Been waiting AGES to contribute to one of these threads, finally I can. Deposit down on a 110TDi this very morning, Pure White, 18" Motorsport alloys and full body kit. Just waiting on tint and I should get it late this week, early next. These new fangled Mk 7's are a world apart from our Mk 5 tdi, thats for sure, but I guess they'd want to be!
Couple of iPhone pics, more to come when I take delivery:
Cannot wait!

2016 Mk7 Deep Black Pearl GTI
Shiny, nice. And look, it has a black smile (that black bit across front looks a bit odd, maybe just takes a bit to get used to it, like the bug eye Subaru which I had to grow to love my baby hehe).

Post a write up on your impressions of the MK7 if you have the time. Most of us would be most interest.
Congrats again
