White, no options. I was going to get the leather but a near $3k option was a tough pill to swallow because it brought it too close to the price of the R. Of course if I new about the 2016 price changes then I would have added the leather. Ah well, at least I won't burn/freeze my arse off in summer/winter (until the seat warmers kick in!). Also the sunroof was not an option when I ordered. Or at least I don't think it was. I didn't look very hard.

You cannot wipe the smile off my face

Picked the car up from a dealer in the part of town I am not overly familiar with and in much heavier traffic than I was comfortable with given the new-ness of my car. Drove like a grandma but got it to the security of my work car park safe and sound lol.

The new car smell is always nice, but this feels extra nice. Happy to join the V-Dub family!

Yep, my GTI was on the Tugela. I can see it was unloaded but still expecting another couple of weeks for it to be delivered to Adelaide. Can't wait!!

The dreaded wait! I was told by the dealer that it would be 10 to 12 business days after it is off the boat - approx 14 October 2015 for me.

For new GTI/R's owners - were you guys advised by the dealer to "break in" the car?
Anything stated in the owner's manual?

My dealer told me "unofficially" not to baby the car and to give it a decent rev now and then.

I believe the engine is bench tested before it is even installed in the car and is pretty well run in then.

I don't care what a dealer tells me, there is no harm in wearing a car in for 1000-1500km before going hard. It'll show up any leaks or other potential problems without (hopefully) causing any damage. It also helps some parts bed in better, which a few km on a bench test won't do. My car came with 15km on the clock. That's not even close enough for me to feel comfortable driving hard. As nsavage said, don't baby it though. Give it the beans every now and then, but don't launch hard and don't redline.

    I have 934km to go
