If they do give you the VIN, then suggest if this car is allocated to you and is in the country, they should be able to supply a solid delivery date as well.

That is an unusual situation for them to have accepted the order, but not given you a specific (albeit estimated) delivery date.

It's a mandatory requirement (in the leasing world at least, though they're buying the same cars that you are!) that when a dealer accepts an order the estimated delivery date must be confirmed as well. Put some more pressure on them - but still be as courteous as possible though.
I've managed to get a hold of someone at the dealership, albeit not the signing dealer.

I have my VIN and they've informed me of the specific holding bay it is in. They've informed me of the launch event date being the 21st, however, no firm date given for the handover. They've informed me that it all depends on the transport schedule as to when they'll receive it, and then it will require time for them to do pre-delivery preperations.

I was told that it is also pending compliance plates, which I would have thought would have been done already, given that they want to roll these cars out immediately after launch.

I'm sure they have the car allotted to me because I have the VIN. I've assisted in the purchase of over a dozen cars in the past and this is the first where there's no exact date so close to approximate delivery date.

Thanks for the reply though. It is strangely comforting to know that there are others in the know.

Got some further info today - Release is definitely 21st. Patricks Auto was releasing them today to dealers. So I guess it's just PD at the dealer (however long that'll take, depending on their workload!), then they'll start delivering!

Man I got lucky with my GTI Performance order! I ordered it 5 months ago because my existing lease was due to expire in October, and I wanted to ensure I had the car I wanted in time. When I ordered there was no word of any 2016 changes. Given the length of time that needed to pass for my car to be delivered, the car was not put into the build queue until after 2016 changes came into effect; like 2 weeks after.

So despite ordering a 2015 car, I'm getting a 2016 model which is brilliant because I will definitely make good use of AndroidAuto and MirrorLink. Then to top it off, the dealer is actually passing on the savings as a result of VW's little price reshuffle so my car is also $2k cheaper. I thought they'd try and shaft me, but they haven't. Happy days!

The car will supposedly be available for pick up next Tuesday

I purchased a new white manual MY15 R yesterday. I will probably be able to collect it tomorrow. Can't wait to get it. Should be heaps of fun. Miss out on a couple of bits of kit from the MY16 but saved quite a bit so I'm very happy.

Just picked up my MY16 GTI, fully optioned. Ordered it from VW Mt Gravatt in Brisbane and so far I can only recommend them. Roy has been awesome from the first phone call and gave me a really good deal too.

With the VIN and this info I was able to track the boat before in even arrived into Germany to pick up my car! and now it's at Port Elizabeth in South Africa.
I don't have to bug the dealer about what's happening with my car and it's less stress for them and you.
Not sure why VW don't make a Web portal so this can happen automatically - customer just puts in a sales order number and it shows you on a map what's happening.
AJW, how are you able to track nadcon, online or is dealer giving you a regular printout

Looking forward to hearing how you enjoy the new toy Mattaus. What colour and options did you settle on?

I think I've been very lucky with my two MK7 purchases this year - back in April & now in September; both arrived 2 weeks from purchase. Though I had to pick them up in the third week due to my schedule.

The first was already with the dealer.

The second was in Sydney - being the only MY16 specced how I wanted in the country.

The long waits a few here have had to endure wouldn't sit well with me at all. Respect.
