There was a $500 price increase on 1 March. I would have thought contracts signed prior to this would be fixed?

I ordered the car subject to it still being on a drive away deal as the deals they had in March expired at the end of April. The new drive away deal is $750 more than before ($24,990 vs $24,240). I can cancel AND get my deposit back if I'm not happy. The car was built in March and is due to be delivered in 3 weeks or so.

My problem is that with the price increase there's MY15 coming from BW22 which will have a few changes to them including a slightly uprated engine. I know 2kW is nothing in the real world but Germans tend to "improve" other things every model year as well, so it feels I'm paying extra for nothing. This will be my wife's car and as I was the one who convinced her to go from a base model to Comfortline+Nav and DA2 I will likely now be in the doghouse as well!

The dealer said that there's was nothing they could do to "absorb" the difference and made no other offer to compensate (e.g. accessories).

    Not a good outcome.

Can you do a quick check with other dealers to see if anyone can match or get closer to the original deal? As a buyer who will 'sign now' they might be keen to get business, particularly at end of month.

Failing anything else then you will need to weigh up the points as you have done. Trouble with BW22 is you'd be talking well into second half of the year before getting a new car. If that isn't a particular issue then by all means wait - they could revisit drive-away pricing again come end of June etc.

    Hi All,

Just purchased second hand my 103TSI highline in dark blue. Had 20,000km on it and paid $25k. Purchased new on August 2013 for $36k (previous owner left receipt in the glove box).

I think I got a good deal. Car was not in good shape when I got it but a clean and detail with duragloss products has it looking like new. It has leather interior in black, dark VW tinting and VW rubber matts. I am very happy with the car except for the dreaded window creaking. I tried the fixed in the other forum but no luck. Also I am getting 7.2 l per 100km right now and expect 830 km from the tank.

Did I get a good deal?

    Very nice. Awesome colour.

I didn't know the GTI's had the glowing red strip on the door sills.
