OK, spoke to dealer again as i wasn't 100% sure when my car is being built.
It goes onto the production line on week 8, i believe that is 2nd last week of Feb?
The long wait starts....
Picked up the Golf on Tuesday and you cannot wipe the smile off my face. What a superb & competent car. So far two mates have decided to go the same way (one with the wagon when it arrives) & the other trading in his 7yr old C Class. I cannot believe how well the Start Stop works with a manual and even with reasonably warm ambient temps. I think the Limestone Grey gives it a touch of class too. Had to blink when I read the instantaneous fuel readout at 100km/hr.

Just ordered my new MY14 110 Highline TDI DSG in Reflex Silver with Driver Assist Package, Leather and Sunroof plus some minor accessories. Can't wait, but I'll have to wait because it will be manufactured about week 9, which means delivery maybe end-May.
My 90 TSI has now just reached 30,000km in 7 months and has had 42 fills. The highest average has been 5.9L/100km and the lowest 4.5L/100km. The only reason they haven't all been below 5 is the amount of short trip round town driving my wife puts on it. It remains the most perfect car we've ever owned.(needs double the power though lol)

I have had my 90TSI Cline since late Dec , at the time was thinking of waiting for the new 3, as I had the first series. Today had a look though did not test drive. Golf's cabin materials are better, doors shut with a solid thud, boot opens and closes so solidly. The 3s doors and boot felt very, um, flexible. And when you close the back doors, it sort of vibrates rather than immediately fixing in place. Not impressed at all. 3s glovebox very plasticky. Initial reports also suggest Golf is still the leader in the class for refinement. Perhaps the 3 is a sharper drive, regardless happy with my decision.

in my opinion, that's the strength of the TDI. Lots of torque!

Picked up my tdi on Friday, very happy.
I like noticing I the small things to do with a modern car. Bumping the indicator to change lanes, controlling the start stop with brake pedal pressure, audio quality is better than I originally thought, sport mode seems more noticeable now than on test drive and the auto hold function just great.
Dont like so much. The small screen, not being able to search music via genre etc, no cover flow, come to think the more I spend with the media the more I'm unimpressed. It's good but I expect more at this price point (gone from test drive wow to owner meh Australia seems to be getting shafted)
