    Hey guys,

I have found out my build date for my new GTI.

Can I find out when you can find out your VIN for the car?

    Thanks

You need to ask your dealer for that information.

    Thanks Adam,

If I just relied on the information from dealers I would be waiting for a long time, so I feel I have to double check everything

I went ahead and brought a new Golf the other week. After being behind the wheel of a company car for so long I'm really looking forward to having my own car. Passed on all options to keep the price within budget however I expect only a mild level of mods to take place over time as those days are really behind me now.

I went with the 2.0 TDI for three reasons. 1) Growing up my dad always praised diesel motors. 2) To me it just felt better on the test drive (may have been biased? see point 1). 3) The 6 speed DSG.

I went with Night Blue. Picking the paint was the hardest part, I was torn between several and rather indecisive. I think photos don't do night blue justice but in real life it just clicked for me.

I'm still waiting for a firm date however they are expecting it around the 28th of Jan as one was in stock at a holding yard and only needs to be trucked to the dealer.

One thing I was a bit disappoint with was a lot of my research took place with other country specs like 8"screen & voice control. After leaving the dealer I'm also unsure about the ride height. I thought the Highline model was lower then the Comfort line but higher then the GTI, now think in Australia only the GTI is lower.

Anyway was able to use those small disappointment to negotiate a price I'm happy with (I'm really bad at that). Really hanging out to drive my own.

From Series 3 to Series 7 - Is this a Golf?

Well at least the light switch is still in the same place!

After 15 years and 300k on the clock I sold my series 3 GL and went for a Comfortline TSI 90 Series 7.

What is it with Golf these days - it's so hard to get a manual car?
I didn't have the $ for a GTI, a bit hard to sell to the family as the Golf is the second car - but if you want a manual then Comfortline is as swish as you get... OK - I guess - where do I sign?

I made the order on 31 Oct last year - just in time for some 'special on road deal' had tinting and mats thrown in for $27k drive away. Given my 1998 Golf GL when new was well over $30k at the time it makes you realise just what we're getting these days for the money!

Anyway the car finally arrived in Australian on January 6, I took delivery yesterday (Jan 17) so I'm very happy to have a MY14 Series 7 with compliance date of Jan 2014. Build date was Sept 2013.

So far, so good - lovely drive, very responsive. Still getting used to an electronic hand brake - especially when I need to do a reverse hill start on my driveway.

When getting dealership tinting, they have missed the small triangle windows near the windscreen, which must be a right pain. Getting it fixed next week, the guys at Denlo Parramatta seemed perplexed - "1st time anyone has ever noticed!". Anyway let's see how good their after sales care is!

Looking forward to learning and trading tips from other Series 7 owners here...

    cheers - Zeph

Just negotiated for my sister a brand new 2013 plate Golf 103TSI Highline DSG candy white for $30,800 drive away with half tank of fuel. Pretty good as RRP $36,640 and got even more off from the promo price of $31,990

Nice one, my family picked one up around that price back at the EOFY sales when the Golf wasn't selling too well.

Signed the paperwork on friday for a limestone grey comfortline manual. Brought a smile when I test drove it with the family on board Wed evening and even as a stop start skeptic was impressed. Looking forward to hopefully picking up late this week (in time for the long weekend). Stayed with the 16's (can share rubber with the Bora which I am keeping - have a full size alloy spare which I purchased for long country drives). Just heard about the COTY award and have to agree it is one of the most complete vehicles on offer.
