    Well done Ben,
We drove the new 7,5 Golf Gti clone the Skoda VRS 245 and then straight to test drive our R wagon. It only had 25 ks on it and we put an extra 20ks or so on.

I think the sound actuactor makes it feel faster. Certainly there is more potential than the Gti.

But even the R doesn't come close to my MY06 WRX that had 236 kwatw. The R is more civilised with adaptive suspension control.

So Ben how are you going to run the R in?

Gav a respected tuner and Moderator in the Polo section here, HW100 advised me to get the engine and DSG warmed up and drive it hard. Gav is not the first advisor to say that about running in new engines.

    Cheers Al

i too picked up an R wagon last week certainly enjoying it too.
Question around the tinting. From factory I can see the rears have privacy glass, is this UV blocking? is it worth tinting further?
Is the panoroof tinted from factory with UV protection?
Can the front windows be tinted further legally (in VIC)?

My running in procedure has always been to get the boost up but not redline it for the first 1500, and use manual mode so it doesn’t cruise around at minimum revs either. Worked well for my 1.4 Polo GTI which used no oil whatsoever.

Is the Gav you mentioned from Underground Performance? If so, he services my VWs.

    Congrats roh008,

The Queensland dealers accessories sales lady pushed hard to sell us the whole Paint Protection, Leather Treatment, and tint the rears and Black Vue Dual Dash Cams, on our R Wagon.

I pushed back harder. We already have Black Vue Dual Dash Cams.

I like the fact I can see out the side glass as we back out of our driveway at night. And it's pretty much just for looks to tint the fronts IMHO.

Any glass tinted should be UV rated at 99%, I believe.

Vic Roads is you point of reference.

    Cheers Al

    Hi Ben,
Yes indeed it is Gav at UGP. Say hello to Gav for me.

I knew Gav and family when he was with Panasonic here in Queensland. And he is a Polo Gti man soe we had a few runs in his and mine when I needed tuning done. Most recently the Polo Air Pump failed and Gav remotely flashed a code to reset it all after deleting the Air Pump. All of a sudden my fuel economy went from try hard to get under 7 to an easy sub 6 and saw 4.5 LP 100 ks.

I kept in contact, he is a good friend to many back here in Queensland too.

Good to know your VW's are well cared for. Has Gav tempted you to tune them?

    Cheers Al

    Hi roh008,

Did you get Dyna Audio? Mine has the Sunroof and Dyna Audio plus a short list of accessories.

We took out the VW Care Service Plan too.

    What are sill protectors?

    Cheers Al

What did the VW Care Service Plan offer? Is it not capped price servicing for the first 5 years anyways? My dealer said if I service it within their VW group showroom then they will keep rolling over the 12 month road side assist.

Just went and picked up the boot liner and it feels very plasticy - quite dissapointed, feels like an ebay one! EDIT - so apparently they are plastic! which is a shame as I would have preferred rubber.

To be fair that listing does mention the fact that they are plastic twice, once in the heading and once in the description. IMO you are better off with plastic anyway, it will stink a lot less and also probably be more robust. I've had some real rubber mats that had to be left out in all weather for weeks to reduce the smell to a tolerable level.
