You're not wrong there Dutch, the squeakiest wheel gets the grease. Fingers crossed that tomorrow there will be a little Golf sitting in my garage. I'll update tomorrow afternoon with what ever news I receive.
Does anybody know when a VIN number would be made available for a Golf R with a September 3rd delivery?
Just called VW Southern and they said the Vehicle is complete and they should see the VIN number in the next few days. They also said, that it will be shipped on the 17th July with a 28th of August entry into Australia, so I am assuming there are a couple of R Drivers that are waiting like me.
I don't know if this is bad news but Saturday night I dreamt that I was driving the Golf R and I tell you it was great, (probably more people looking at the car then in real life and me getting concerned because I wanted the opposite). The only issue was the next day I went out and it was gone... AaAagh!!! I woke up stressed.

It's not just Barloworld in Glen Waverly that’s bad to dealwith. The Botany Barloworld in Sydney is also not got a good reputation and nowI regret buying from them.
I purchased a demo Golf with 2000km and they wanted 3 days to deliver it to meto do all the pre-delivery checks. I had told the sales guy that the car wasvery dirty and he agreed and said it would cleaned.
When I went in to take delivery, it took over 3 hours. Theexterior of the car was marked and dirty it looked like they had just given ita quick wash but all the bird droppings were still evident and all it would havetaken to remove the marks would have been a proper clean and perhaps a lightpolish on the worst bits. I had the front windows tinted buy the dealer andthey didn’t match the colour of the rearand had small bubbles in them so Itold them that I want happy with it and wanted fixed or removed.
After I complained, one of the people took it to the workshopand spot cleaned the worst spot but I ask is this good enough when buying a $54,000car?
After that was shuffled around from person to personincluding customer relations, who admitted that it was presented badly and said, they would fix things.
The worst thing is it was dark by the time I got into thecar and they were closing and practically shoving me out the door after keepingme waiting for hours. When I finally got into the car to drive it awayI noticed somedirty spots in side and less than half a tank of petrol but it wasn’t until thenext day in the day light that I could see the car was grotty inside it hadnot been touched other than a quick vacuum.
This was my 3rd Golf purchase and every dealerhad provided me with a full tank of petrol on delivery of the car except thisone.
Another issue it that I was not told about dealeraccessories when I purchased it or even what accessories it had other than theones I could see. The new 7 models now sell Voice control as an accessory whereas it came standard with previous models.
Given all this, I had the car checked mechanically tomake sure that it was Ok, they said it was good but it had several fault codes inthe system that needed to be repaired and cleared. This should have been doneprior to delivery.
I sent them an email and made several calls detailing allthe problems and after 14 days was contacted to bring the car back in for 3days to have the issues resolve.
I picked up the car the other day and they say theycleared all the faults and removed the tinting and detailed the car. I thoughgreat, but when I picked it up the inside had only been vacuumed all the marks wasstill there. There was some kind of sticky substance on the exterior of thewindows and its now making the windows screech when they go up or down. And thepetrol had not been toped up.
When I pointed out the marks in the car and that the boothad not even been vacuumed as it was exactly as it was when I dropped it in. Iwas told that she personally supervised them do it and that they don’t cleandown the insides in detail.
She offered to take it back and do it again personallyin an exasperated tone but I was not well that day so I didn’t want to hangaround any longer but it was clear that all I was getting was lip service and theissues were not getting fixed.
I still have to get the voice accessory installed so it needs to go back againg but they only seem to want to be seen to do the right thing when it come to quality of service it's non existant.

Just spoke to Dealer and it looks like car is about to get assigned the VIN number, so far on their system they are seeing that the car will be shipping on the 17th of July with an expected 28th of August arrival... so I am excited to know that the car is made.
I hope this is not bad news, but Saturday night i had a disturbing dream that I was driving the Golf R and I was stressing because it was getting more attention then I wanted(it was driving well, and I had a smile on my face) but when I parked it and came back it was gone aaargHH!!! then my stress levels increased and I woke up exhausted mentally.
Just picked up my new GTI PP. Pure white, leather and driver assist package.
Had to give the park assist a go out of curiosity and it's very effective. The interior is very nice, I'm glad I went for the leather.
Got to take it back and get the mats and there seems to be a small scratch on the windscreen near the rear view mirror. Hopefully it's nothing and all is well with the world.
Very nice, Damien. Good choice on the colour too .
Well, I've been told that my car 'should' be ready this Friday... Not too happy to be honest but hopefully it'll be worth the wait! Will be hitting the dealer up for some goodies.
That's a terrible experience salrom. Not a nice way to start a new purchase or any purchase for that matter.
What dealer are you using Acid?
