Monty: how have you set-up the announcement settings in the menu screens?
Don
Hello there. I've recently picked up a 2013 Mk7 Golf GTI and don't seem to be able to get any voice announcements when using the navigation system.
The car still has 11 months VW warranty which was part of the deal when I bought it, so before i go back to VW I wanted to make sure i havent missed something simple.
From what I can tell I have the announcements enabled and the volume setting is turned up but I can't hear anything. Everything else works fine with the directions, but there is just no audible directions.
Has anyone else experienced this and managed to resolve it? Or is this going to be a warranty claim?
Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Monty

Hi Don,
So from the Navigation screen if I enter in to the settings screen and then into the Navigation Announcements setup the only options I have are “No voice guidance during call” and the volume slider.
I’ve tried turning the voice guidance during call on and off and have the volume turned all the way up but still no change.
There are no other options on this screen available… Unless there is another screen somewhere that I can’t find?
I'd just the dealer to upgrade the maps (for free), and let them deal with the voice problem after they upgrade it
Monty: Yes, the two options is what I was asking-about. I assume volume is turned-up (you can access this same volume slider from the "Sound/volume" option).
So, I wonder whether the SATNAV thinks that you are making a call? Perhaps unclick this option -does anything change?
