    MY16 Golf R - Sound from engine bay (still exists after 10 hours)

    Hi guys,

    I know this issue has been raised a couple times before on other forums as well, but I get a beeping? sort of noise from the engine bay once the car is ignition off and unlocked.

    I've done some searches and its a common thing that occurs - but my car was still making the noise after a good nights sleep!?

    I've only just taken delivery of this vehicle which was a dealer demo (3000kms).

    I've attached a short clip where you can faintly hear the noise. It beeps for a good 5 sec then pauses - then starts again.

    ]

    Is this normal for it to beep after 10 hours of parked / locked?

    f080361: Difficult to say - from the recording. If the noise appears after you have driven home and turned the ignition-off, then it could be the electric pump for the turbo coolant - this normally runs fro a few minutes after switch-off until the coolant thermostat tells the pump to shut-down . If the noise appears in the mornings after you unlock the car and open one of the doors, then it is probably the fuel tank pressurising pump - which engages in anticipation of an engine switch-on. Both -just guesses!

    ^^^ hmm....... Odd-in a remarkable coincidence of happenstance (how's that for a tautology?), I just answered a similar question in another forum.

    Colleague complained of strange noises from the engine compartment throughout the night. Finally worked-out that the owner had left an OBDeleven diagnostic dongle connected to the OBD port when the ignition was turned-off. This had the effect of forcing the CAN Gateway in the car to keep all of the other control modules awake (when they should been in deep slumber). Result - the various sensors and transducers in the engine bay were still active (hence the noise)

    Is there a possibility of the same casue on your car - perhaps an ELM device, or OBD11 dongle?
