    My new mk7 R

Picked up this thing a couple of weeks ago, already has a bunch of mods and IE stage 2 software. Definitely an adjustment coming from my mk1 TT but really enjoying how civilised it is. First thing was to remove the plastidip from the wheels. Plans are flex setup and a slightly larger turbo but I think I’ll enjoy it as is for a little while. Already got some new wheels sorted for it

I suspect the OP is referring to plastidip, but autocorrect kicked-in. The wheels look black/charcoal in the first pic, and then "au naturale" in the last pic.

Boost gauge and fuel content sensor installed, no more guessing the ethanol content. These engines look such a mess without the cover on!
Also removed the weather shields, I prefer the cleaner look and they produced quite a bit of wind noise at highway speeds

New wheels for the R! They are Rays gram lights 57transcend in the ultra dark charcoal finish. Stock Cadiz are for sale if anyone is keen.

Nice choice on the new wheels Lito - they look good. Always a fan of silver or grey wheels, black has been done to death.

And you are right about the engine being ugly with the cover removed, they certainly don't put any effort these days into making engines look nice, and the sea of plastic parts don't help either.

Thanks mate! Yeah I definitely didn’t want to go black, I was even unsure on the charcoal being a bit too dark but in the sun they really pop thanks to all the metallic in the colour.

Very nice! Are you simply running a bit of E85 on top of the usual 98RON for detonation resistance and minimising pulled timing, or is your tune specifically an E30 tune and you're after a visual indication of the ethanol ratio without going down the road of a flex-fuel sensor and associated tune?

I run a splash of E85 in my Stage 1 Passat 206TSI most of the time now, as whilst my tune isn't specifically set up for it, it simply loves an ethanol content of around E15-E20 with adequate fuelling system headroom and O2 sensor feedback to hit target AFRs. The torque delivery is FAR nicer with a bit of corn juice in there, particularly in hot weather.

EDIT: BTW, have you considered a set of these with colour-matched paint to fill the holes in your front bumper after removing the licence plate mount? I did exactly this on my Passat.
