Well....
I have to tell all about the final delivery of how my new Golf Wolfsburg R went.
Signed the contract back in November. Dealer was Cricks VW up in Qld.
After some haggling, decided on a new Lapiz Blue Wolfy R. None was 'on hand' but the dealer assured me one was procurable.
Delivery was Dated 20 December 17. Received an email a few days later with one on 'the ship', and supplied the VIN No.
Unfortunately, when it landed, it was quarantined by Dept. of Ag. for 3 weeks. and was interstate.
As it was one of the hottest summers we ever had, I wasn't too happy about it sitting for another 3 weeks, no doubt in the open, and emailed Cricks of my concerns. Time passed, and it was released to Patricks, then sat again for another period, waiting for interstate transport.
It was now a just under a month after the contract delivery date. Got the email saying it was arriving and would be ready in a few days, and given date and time for pickup. Drove to the dealer at the appointed time (100Km), and was advised the car was not there. WTF!.
Was told by the Branch Manager that the R sustained some 'light damage' in transit, couple of scratches on the roof, and knew I would not be satisfied. I asked if I could see it but was out being assessed. Later I also asked another salesman and he advised me that this was in fact the case.
Now, the branch manager said he would do his best to replace it with another new replacement vehicle and refund some of the contracted price for my trouble. I was not that sure it was possible, and to his credit, offered me a 'courtesy car', a new Golf R, and had it registered. So I drove away in this vehicle (very nice), only had 150km on the clock.
A few days later I got a call saying he had located a R Blue Wolfie at another dealer, and had procured it for me, and would be arriving in a couple of days.
Today, just over a week after the first 'failed' delivery, I took possession and delivery of it. Very nice, no faults, well presented and it was actually a slightly later build than the original R Wolfsburg.
We all have preconceptions of car dealers, and I guess some are more equal than others. No doubt Cricks VW still came out ahead, but I felt they had gone the extra mile to make sure I was indeed fully satisfied.
Thanks to James and Anthony for the final outcome.
