Hey Guys, got the car back and im very happy with the repair. Huge difference in smoothness. Got the result i needed. They were cheeky enough to write repaired under good will on the invoice! At least this sets the precedence for anyone else that has the problem. I recommend asking for Lincoln at Epping who is now well versed with the problem. Happy for anyone to pm me also

Good to hear that you've got it fixed.. I wouldnt be happy about the "good will" thing too! It sounds like definitely a warranty issue - I dont want to go through the same thing now.... Im from the west, so Epping is a little too far and I cant be left without a car for that long!

I chickened out when I went in to get my sunroof fixed (it wasn't closing) and didn't tell them about the box, just because I didnt want to go through the whole thing you did (which is a little silly), as a consumer I shouldnt have to fear a company for not valuing there warranty. I literally complain about my box every single time I drive it! I should really get it checked out, do you actually know the effected VINS?

On a side note - im glad you've set a precedence though! thanks Theres no reason for them to deny my claim now, if the issue is found to be the same - Also, how can they decide whether you have "spirited" driving? I know under there warranty clauses it says no racing, but with a clean driving history (not a single fine) I would be arguing for them to provide me with evidence of my "spirited" driving, in the event they did not cover it under a warranty claim.

Sorry for the late reply, my car has been perfect since I got it back. An absolute delight to drive again. The precedence is set, another member on here is now bringing their car into the same dealer so we'll see how they go. They can ascertain "spirited" driving numerous ways by checking the thread wear on the tyres if it's even, checking excessive or uneven wear on the brakes, transmission oil etc etc. My car was perfect so I had that going for me. They can't deny on that basis anyway, if the part is defective, it's defective, doesn't matter if you brought it on track as I pointed out to them the car is designed for that i.e there is a lap timer, race mode settings and VW themselves have VW Experience every year on a track where they teach customers how to handle their cars better and showcase the different features (I'm going this year).

Keep me posted how you go.

    Hi Jazzyjames999,

Can I please ask you a question. Was the Notchy from changing the gear stick from 1st to 2nd, or it was from release clutch when you have already shifted to 2nd?

As I got a difficult engagement from 1st to 2nd when I release the clutch in a normal speed. The car will jerk a bit no matter what rpm is running. I gotta hold the clutch in the bit point for a while and release it very slow.

Remove the clutch fluid delay restrictor in your clutch bleeder block, it will change your life!! Lol not kidding it so much better after. I had similar problem, could never get a smooth 2nd gear shift and also rough from a stop, now it's great!

I just had the gearbox on my '14 model 90 TSI rebuilt by the dealer (Frizelles at Southport) to fix a second gear synchro problem. The down change from 3rd to 2nd got progressively worse until at 40,000 kms the crunch was audible over the stereo. It was all done under warranty and they provided a loan car for the week. I wasn't happy about the box failing so soon but the dealer couldn't have been better about it.

Apart from that fairly major glitch I am very pleased with the car. The quality difference between it and a Pulsar rental I had for a few days was really noticeable. Materials, NVH, equipment levels and ride quality were all much better in the golf.
