    Gee they're spinning one there - that's crap. I've driven two manual Mk7GTIs - one with the crunchy shift, the other was butter smooth. Good luck with getting it fixed - maybe talk to a different dealer?

    My GTI's fine when going from 1-2 fyi.

    Dealer's can say anything.....

    They are talking specifically about the R, I think the GTI is fine.

    Surely the same gearbox in both GTI and R?

    After noticing someone with a GTI having the same issue, I thought I'd chime in with my 2c.

    If thats the case, what I don't understand is how so many people have the issue and so many don't. If it was a common issue wouldn't there be a recall or some kind of communication.

    It might, but in my experience a problem such as you describe usually proves to be inside the transmission.
