Has there been any news on a GTI or R version of the Wagon to compete against the Octavia RS...??

Ive got an RS wagon at the moment and new car is maybe 2-3 years away and at this stage the new RS is at the top of the list unless this comes out with a go fast model...

There never has been a GTI-based Golf Wagon, and although some have speculated, there's nothing to suggest VW is about to bring one out with the Mk7.

Oh, if only there was a GTI version

Am I correct in assuming that the rear seats cannot fold completely flat? I can't find any images of the 7 with completely flat seats unlike my 6.

Rear seats fold just as flat as my Mk 6. No change in mechanism - based on test drive and demo yesterday.

Is there a particular reason as to why you're after a VW-branded wagon vs. the new Octavia RS?

I'm starting to consider the Octavia (not the RS) wagon as I can actually get the options I want (Discover Pro, premium sound) without having to go aftermarket - along with the 132TSI engine, which isn't even available (to be perfectly honest, not too fussed about the engine).

Went with the local dealer. Easier than tracking dealers. But maybe not cheapest. Plus the difference really seems fairly minimal cost-wise.

I believe there were some (uber rare) VR6 Variants built (maybe Mk3, was a 4mo Mk4), and there is a turbo petrol Mk5.

    Mk5

albeit not GTI spec, pretty close.

GT spec- non-turbo, but seats/wheels etc.

How come NZ got the Mk7 so early,

I hope they make a sporty variant, shame they didn't do an R32 while they had the chance, fast small wagon, is there any sweeter forbidden fruit? I'd kill for a Polestar estate.

Can verify that they no longer lie completely flat. The Mark 6 wagons allow you to lift up the bottom of the seat to fold the rear seats down completely horizontal (I don't believe this is a feature of the hatch but I don't know). Will need to take measurements as to whether this is going to be a big deal breaker... !

Also, I can't figure out how to adjust the lower part of the lumbar support on the new leather. Did VW take that away, too?

Learn something every day, even the day before we get rid of the Mk6. Never tried to lift the squab up.

Old Golf party trick. They have done that since Mk1.
