Yep, it always happens when I start the engine with start/stop system. I don't feel any vibration but for sure sounds like something is vibrating.

    Hi.

I picked up my Golf last week and all good so far. But I am going to sit down and work out the advanced funtions of the MFD! In the meantime, can anyone give me advice/suggestions about the following:

    * roof-racks: need them mainly to carry a mal. Are there good alternatives to the VW ones? Any to steer clear of?

    * tinting: I've read here about Hunters Hill being good. Are there any good ones closer to the Illawarra? Or is Hunters Hill worth the drive and day out?

    * mats: didn't get any in the purchase, so are the 3rd party ones good? recommendations (good or bad)? Avoid generic ones?

    thanks

Congrats on the new car. Rhino wing bars work well. Had them on my 92tsi. Fitted well, nice and quiet even with bike racks fitted.

Mats I bought a set of rubber fitted mats for mk7 golf off eBay. Found an Aussie site (can't remember which sorry) but the mats fit perfectly even having the stud housings for the front mats. Rears have a central section to cover the tunnel. Raised white "golf" I can take or leave but they are thick and solid and work well. And pretty cheap - about $75 I recall.

    Hope that helps

Thanks for that, LibraR. I'll start looking. Rubber might be good for going down beach. But comfort in bare feet? hmmm? Things that concern you when you're old!

Probably not so good in bare feet. I don't usually drive barefoot so no issue for me.

^^^ hmm......... I can't believe that VW Australia would use another TMC code for its Polo than it does for its other vehicles, but anything is possible - I guess
Here's a list of all the TMC codes that I know. Perhaps try another code - can't hurt!

    • 1024 - SUNA Traffic (Intelematics)
    • 32771 online traffic + VW TMCPro
    • 1537 - I've seen this on MIB units on NAR model mk7s
    • 0 - dev options
    • 65535 - TMC OFF

    Don

PS: another thought - perhaps there is a "virtual switch" in the code-string of the control module for TMC? Does this module have a label file yet - so that the long-coding-helper screens are populated?
Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

    HI all,

Back in a Mk7 GTI (again). Ive noticed something has changed in the MFD (or something I missed last time). The fuel economy usage now reads since last engine start, not since new. Is there a setting to change this? Not referring to the instant reading, but the more long term one.

    Cheers

Cant you swipe across the different options? I get since start, since refuel and long term.

HELP! Just purchased a MY13 1.4 TSI DSG Comfortline Estate and am having issues.

    Hey there,

1st post and straight into grief.

Bought a 2013 1.4 TSI DSG Comfortline Estate with 20000 clicks on it from a factory VW dealer here in NZ

Prior to purchase I asked the dealer to confirm the car had had no warranty work, no mechanical work apart from regular service and no accident damage. Also asked him to confirm the car had no outstanding recalls on it.

Dealer gave me all the answers I wanted to hear The dealer also said he would give the car a service as it was due the 3 year service and put a new warrant of fitness and rego on it. I bought the car sight unseen (I was in the UK at the time)

Dealer delivered the car to the Airport when I flew in to NZ. I had a quick look over it (it was dark) and drove away

On the drive home it started to rain and I discovered the wiper blades were well worn and not clearing the screen well. The next day looked over the car and noticed the front tyres were worn significantly more than the rears. Took car to tyre guy and rotated front to rear. The wiper blades and tyre issues seemed a bit strange considering the car had just been through the 3 yr inspection/service. Whilst looking through the owners manual for service history I found a receipt for warranty work on the wastegate, no mention of this from dealer. I'm getting a bit suspicious now so I popped the bonnet and pulled the air filter, full of flies and dust! Popped the pollen filter and found much of the same. Ring dealer 'please explain". Dealer tells me they only did the oil and filter, I asked if this constituted a 3 yr service/inspection. He said he would check. I did some homework and found that the 3 yr service has a lot more to it including fully flushing the brake fluid.
The same day while driving the car from cold I had a bad shudder when the DSG changed from 1st to 2nd, I thought it was the handbrake engaging. I stopped the car and checked the brake, it was off. Tried to drive away again and had exactly the same issue, stopped again and checked the brake, no problem and drove off again, no issue this time and the issue has not occurred in the last 2 days.

Dealer gets back to me and sheepishly asks for the car back to complete the service, i mentioned the shuddering issue and they have agreed to look at it.

I'm really worried now and have no trust in the dealership, I have the option of returning the car for a refund if they are unable to resolve the issues to my satisfaction.

Here's where you guys can help a brother out. What questions do I need to ask and what answers should I expect to receive from the dealer before I accept the car. What is the status with the DSG recalls for oil change, clutch pack and software updates? The NZ cars have had the DSG warranty increased from 3-5 years. Is there anything else I need be aware of? The car is cosmetically in very good condition inside and out and I would like to keep it if I can get a clean mechanical bill of health.

Any advice on this matter would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

    Newbie in NZ
