Is there a way to retrofit the Discover Pro system? I'm told there are no plans in the near future to offer this directly to the Australian market (which means a *downgrade* on the RNS510) - I had a loaner Mark 7 for a day and concluded that the new display was rubbish. Also disappointed to see the lack of premium audio options available.
Has anybody heard when these features may be coming, if at all?
bc:
I started my original inquiry with VWA (about Voice Control on my Highline) about two months ago and I had the support of the dealer where I bought my Golf when I approached VWA. Got a call from VWA last week and their advice is that they are testing a fix from VW Germany for the problem. In typical VWA fashion, they couldn't tell me when their testing regime would finish, so I waiting for it to be released.
I have absolutely no idea why VWA needs to "test" the fix that VW Germany has developed to solve this problem (maybe VWA are concerned that software patches that originate in the Northern Hemisphere are likely to fail in the Southern Hemisphere). Anyway, I am waiting for VWA to tell my dealer that the fix is officially released. If you hear anything, please share
I sent an email to VWA regarding voice control. This is the email response that I received.
Thank you for your e-mail. We do apologise for the delay in response.
In regards to the voice control in your vehicle, it is not able to be connected.
It was originally advertised before the release of the car, however these brochures should have been pulled off the shelves in our dealers.
It has instructions in your user manual, this is because it is a generic manual also for our European models.
The Volkswagen factory did not include the function in our models that were ordered for our market.
We currently are developing a way to install it as an accessory function with our cars, however there is a little way to go before it is available in the market.
We do apologise for this.
Kindest Regards

Hmm, sounds dodgy, could have sworn it was one bit to change in provisioning in mk6.

Question for you all. Dealer said the new base Golf I picked up didn't need to be run in at all. "Feel free to take it to the red line" he said, "the engine has already been run-in at the factory before installation".
Is this true of new cars these days, or is he fibbing/has no idea what he's saying?
I'm taking it for a long drive into country NSW this weekend, and would love to be able to use the cruise control.

3K is nearly impossible to avoid, and actually silly, because you will put more strain on the engine trying to drive it in higher gears(to avoid revving) than just letting it freely rev. Just don't rev the tits off it at full throttle all the time for about 1000km and you should be fine. Avoiding full throttle in a turbo car will avoid big boost, which will reduce the potential for troubles in a minimally worn in engine.
