Mk7 Golf TSI & TDI - Observations and Questions

Anyone else noticed a burning brake/clutch/exhaust smell on their new dsg cars? Mine only has 70 kms on it so I think it's just the components wearing in but wanted to see if anyone else noticed it?

I noticed a similar smell when I took one home for an overnight test drive last year, the sales person told me it was just the "rubber and cleaning products settling underneath the bonnet"

Normal for a new car. You are bedding in the brakes & the hot engine / exhaust is burning off any greasy remnants that might be on there. The cat con will stink for a bit too. Suggest you drive up a mountain & get it nice & hot & it will all burn off at once.

The plastics in the interior will be out-gassing too so leave the windows down as much as possible.

Yes I have in my three week old gti. It's annoying so will get it looked at when they replace my drivers door panel (they used white stitching instead of red).

Yes a few times from the driver door and more often from both B pillar (where I adjust the height of the seat belt) ... is it something VW can fix or should be fixing for us????

Rattles can be tricky, if you take them to the dealer you run the risk of them introducing a bunch of new ones if they remove panels. I have noticed mine as weather dependant and tend to notice them over short jagged bumps.

So the inevitable happened today, 3 week old comfortline and some germ has dinged my door, looks to be the classic sh@t head opening their door without care and of course not leaving a note or anything. Sourcing quotes at the moment but it appears it may not be able to be paintless dent repaired. Sad day, so disappointed
