Just hypothesising for a moment. There must be a reason why WVA did not put iPod connectivity in its Golf 7s (acknowledging blue tooth connectivity). Combining this with the lack of voice control could mean that the 'accessory' may offer Siri Eyes free. There is a lot in the press regarding apple and car manufacturers, VW included, that this could be a possibility. The other possibility is 'Mirrorlink' which allows certain car approved apps on a smartphone to be displayed and run from your car entertainment system.
Regardless I can not see VW just offering an accessory just for voice control alone.

The rear bumper (from the car behind who was following too closely) and then the front bumper (from your car hitting the car in front caused by the impact and momentum from the car behind), followed by a mental breakdown from having your brand new Golf in an accident.
Judging by all the posts on other forums about iPhone connectivity and angry customers I wouldn't offer the functionality either. NOthing but heartache for the car manufacturers.
Voice control is a UKP180 option in the UK.
"Spoken voice commands for radio or navigation systems"
As an aside
To go from the stereo system we get in the Comfortline (no satnav) to the sat nav version costs UKP750 (bit more than we pay).
To go from the basic stereo (no sat nav) to the Discover Pro costs UKP1800! Equivalent to twice the price of a sunroof, or over 3 times the cost of the Dynaudio upgrade. No surprise why they don't offer it here (it would be a 2500-3000 option)
So where are the other forums complaining about iPhone connectivity then??
My Mk 6 was brilliant with the plug that charged and transferred data so I could use it on the touch screen. I had a few instances where it froze but easily reset. The Merc one is the same as the Mk 6 VW with the plug for power and data. Works perfectly.
Why on earth did VW go completely backwards and not offer this and have to transfer via slow power sapping Bluetooth.
The touch screen is a step back as well.
