Don't fall for it. Paint protection is a load of crap and they mark up window tinting a lot.

Dealer quoted just over $2k for paint and fabric protection only. I'm using a guy that did my son's car. He had stage 1 paint correction and opti-cote applied. Car looked great afterwards and so easy to keep clean. His guy quoted $800 for stage 1 paint correction, opti-cote, interior protection and window tinting. I'm getting it done after car arrives in about 2 weeks.

If you're going to opt for the extra warranty, make sure you actually read what it covers or you may get an unpleasant surprise later on..

How is paint protection a load of crap?

You need to ask what sort of paint protection is being used and get a price. If it's Opti Coat, it's certainly not a load of crap. $800 for Opti Coat and interior protection on a brand new car is reasonable. "Stage 1" correction though is a bit dubious. He's basically just saying a light, 1 step polish. But still, it's a reasonable price.

I would never spend my money on paint protection. I am yet to read anything that proves it does a thing except make you poorer.

Rustproofing on a Golf? Isn't the 12 year anti corrosion perforation warranty more than sufficient?

Yeah its all a matter of personal preferences and values. My last new car prepped by a dealer had terrible paint swirls from their ham-fisted 'dealer prep', took a guy over 4 hours to fix. I'm happy.

yes and also check the conditions that would void the extended warranty, such as servicing and who needs to do it.
