Took the car to VW - wet day so plenty of road noise. They couldnt hear it but i will leave the car in there in a couple of weeks to fix some other stuff.
Just to explain the noise - it is a rattling once you back off full throttle to partial throttle. It is quite loud - and im convinced it is the wastegate. No noise when constant acceleration but as you partially back off you will get the woosh from the DV/wastegate and a pinging rattle noise as well. Lets hope they can hear it next time
It is particularly apparent in Sports mode because the engine is allowed to rev higher than the normal mode so when you pick up your car, try it in Sports mode and they would be deaf to not be able to hear it.. Good luck!

Noticed it amplified off barriers etc , when loading the engine - from 1500-2000 rpm or so.
No pinging and no rattle. In fact I've never had any new car in 40 years that is so perfectly built and behaved. Hope it continues that way. This is much better than my Mk6. I'm at 2500km and have only used 98RON.

My highline has just gone through 1.5 litres of engine oil in just over 4k.. dealer seems to think it's normal.. that's after having to take it back to the dealer twice with aircon problems... Not a great start

~400ml per 1000km isn't great, although not unheard of. The manual does allow for a very high oil consumption rate for the first 10,000km or so (well - it did in the Mk6; take a look at your owner's manual and see what it says); VW engines do have a habit of consuming a lot early on, and subsequently using little or none.

Mine is now near 3000km and hasn't used a drop. After the 1L / 3000km of my Mk6 I've kept a close watch. This new Mk7 is just such a different car compared to my Mk6. There is not one thing that isn't better- it's faster, more economical, roomier, quieter, better riding, much better equipped, was $ thousands cheaper & not so much as a buzz, squeak or strange annoying noise. So you've got to love that. So now turbo, don't crap yourself.....

Had a read of the manual.. I'm hoping that it does slow down.. driving from Melbourne to Sydney this weekend so I'll be sure to take some oil with me incase I need a top up!

I couldn't resist (sic) means "this was it written" - it's usually inserted in quotations where the spelling is incorrect.
    (pun) would be more suitable?
