    Thanks Tonymy01 for your reply, appreciated. I'm guessing fuel might not be the issue here as I have been using BP 98 only. But yeah I don't push it that much and it's usually onset when I'm about to shift to 3..I normally don't rev hard lol. I'll keep an eye (or ear) on this and if necessary I'll go back to the dealer and see how it goes : )

    I finally managed to test drive the TDI highline. It is AMAZINGLY refined. The engine has none of the gravelly diesel truck sound. the engine also spun quite freely.

    I swear i was driving a petrol! It is THAT good. Definitely the pick of the non performance Golf bunch.

    Highly impressive car. The suspension tune also gave the car car great agility.

    If only i wasnt so jaded from the poor treatment VW gave me with both mk5 and mk6 issues and the lack of reliability, i would order one in a heartbeat!

    I've got a buzzing noise at 2000rpm from our 110TDI behind the glove box area. Anyone else got this problem?

    And the sliding cover has been changed to slide in the opposite direction so now if you only have one bottle/cup like I usually do you have to have the cover fully open if you want to keep the container in the rear most hold closer to the armrest. I don't see any practical reason for the change.

    Hi all, first thanks for all the information people have been posting about their purchases and experiences so far, much appreciated I have a couple of questions for those who have a new MK7.

    1. What sort of real-world fuel consumption figures are people with MK7's seeing and how have you been driving the car (frugal or pushing it hard)? I've seen some reviews that (for eg) state a 90tsi get more like 7.5+ in the real world which is quite a difference.

    2. Those with the drivers assistance package - how have you found it, in particular the different profiles? Do you feel it's been worth getting?

    I've had my Mk7 110TDI for a few weeks now and done about 1000km. In a previous post I mentioned that I had mixed feelings when comparing it with my Mk5 125TDI GT but now that I'm more used to it I love it, in fact feel that since I work from home I don't get enough chance to drive it.

    The stop/start feature is something I don't like and will look into ways of turning it off though I'm slowly getting used to turning it off as part of starting the car. Economy is good so far (better than my other diesels when new). I don't buy a diesel for the economy (which is not financially justified unless you do enormous distances) but simply because they are just so great to drive and this one is the best ever - very smooth and responsive. The DSG works well too even if there is a moment on starting form rest when nothing seems to happen

    It does not have the sports suspension of the GT TDI but seems to go around corners in a hurry just as well and possibly even feels like it sticks to the road better. Otherwise it feels like a slightly larger car in the way it drives.

    It has the Driver Assist package and I would say it's worth the extra $$, in fact I would not want to be without it. It's great to be on the highway and not have to worry about monitoring the speed all the time when behind other traffic. Sure, it has its moments say when going around a roundabout then loses sight of the car in front and takes off in a hurry but you have to be aware that you need to be alert and take control as required.

    I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend the car. As for the service from dealers and VW Aust, so what's new. When I bought my first new Peugeot 404 it was a great car, way ahead of anything else on offer for the price but as far as service etc was concerned it was useless. But I loved the car and put up with the rotten service. When I test drove my first Golf 103 TDI I was very happy to say goodbye to Peugeot - sold my 307 and unless they produce something really worth getting I will never deal with them again.

    Unless you are very unlucky (and that could happen with any brand) you buy the car because it is a great car and that's why this is my third Golf.

    I've had my Mk7 103TSI for 3 weeks now and loving it. Fuel consumption on my daily 80km of city freeway driving has ranged from 4.5 to 6 litres/100km. I also have the driver assist package and find the ACC to work well. I have only tried Normal and Sport driving modes so far (quoted fuel consumption is using normal mode, have yet to try economy) and have no issues with either. Sport mode maintains higher revs before shifting up. Haven't really explored the modes sufficiently to say whether they are worth it.

    Hi Saintza, I've had my 103TSI for 8 weeks and am very pleased with its fuel consumption. I drive in peak-hour traffic in and out of Melbourne and even then average no more than 7.5L. Generally in my everyday driving it's 5.5-7.0L max and I do push it! I don't really do any freeway driving but when I did it was under 5L/100km- pretty impressive! I have only been filling up with BP Ultimate (9 so far.

    I agree with others about the stop/start being annoying though- hard to remember to keep turning it off! I have only been using it when I know I'm going to be waiting at the lights a long time.

    hey everyone

    I have a 90tsi comfortline - been a week now , about 250kms and its a very comfy drive. A couple of questions if anyone has a similar experience

    1. Everytime you shut down it states "safteylock" or something to that effect. Without browsing the novel of a manual , is this something I should be looking into ?
    2. The bonnet release doesnt work. It pulls , with some resistance but it wont pop anything....Is there a trick to it or is this a failed part ?
    3. Has anyone noticed D (drive) is lazy and likes to upshift and lug too often - i will be into D6 or D7 at 0-10 degrees gradient at normal cruising , it feels like the gearbox is vibrating and basically slipping at this stage (sits on 1500 or so RPMs)
    Ive rectified this by sitting in S for alittle more revs and pep. Id like the gearbox to last as long as possible. !
    4. Lastly the wipers are great when it rains but shoddy and jumpy if there is only a touch of mist or water on the windshield. There isnt enough strength in the arms or too much grip in the blades ?
