    However if you go home page of innovation and technology in their website and watch the video of "Traffic Jam Assist" then we already basically have it, it's just Adaptive Cruise Control really:

    Yeah it is almost the same thing just missing the lane keeping part as lane assist doesn't work indefinitely and only above 65km/h. Wonder if the coding for lane assist can be tweaked to run at all speeds.😩

    Yes thats it adaptive cruise is so good in heavy traffic i love it
    You don't get frustrated and swap lanes just feet off and steer let the car do the work
    When stopped it goes inactive after a short while but just hit resume and your off again
    Don't forget to stop at red lights if no one stopping in front of you i was that relaxed one day nearly forgot to brake almost sailed into oncoming traffic /doh

    I'm also curious to know, the new 7.5 r has the performance dials in the centre screen which tells you how much power the engine is putting out. if you install any form of stage 1, / 2 etc this will log how much the car it putting out and so the dealer would know you have modified the car? or can the log be cleared?

    I know the info exists but it's tedious to sift through all the threads then read the subsequent debate over whether VW can tell or not

    My dealership is cool, I've bought 5 VW's from them and the sales guy told me he'll make sure the boys in the workshop don't give me any problems plus he knows I lease mine as a company car and trade in with him when it's time for an upgrade. If I got warranty voided because of an ECU flash, using launch control too many times (I think I can achieve a good enough launch without it anyway) or start/stop disable he won't be selling me another car again.
    Hey, no expert on these but,

    Any flash tune will put you at risk of being flagged by the VAG system. I believe this is out of your dealership's hands and is an automated action as part of their computer systems connecting your car to VAG servers for remote diagnostics and software updates. Sounds like they use a unique hash/checksum verification for each flash to identify any changes to the ecu software, meaning they can detect even if you flash back to the original before coming in.

    Good news is it is widely accepted that piggyback units like the jb4, as they mis-report sensor data back to the ecu, are pratically invisible to the car and do not change ecu's software. You could then rely on your dealer's good will for the presence of the unit, or if you want to be sure - remove it before taking it in for services and/or warranty work.

    Sounds like the jb4 stage one setting (map 1) will give you somewhat of a rocket without any bolt-ons thanks to the tunability of this engine.

    However, I'm also interested in what easy bolt ons can be applied that someone could easily remove themselves before taking it to the dealership - if such things even exist.

    I agree any ecu flash tune can be identified even if flashed back to stock for warranty if the dealer is suspicious I.E blown turbo ect

    Piggyback units usually are ok tho with most are generally not accepted to be as good(safe) as a ecu tune (exceptions of course abound)
    I wish vw aust had a relationship with apr like they do in the states or abt like they do in germany so you can get a tune/upgrades direct from the showroom floor
    You can of course get both tunes in aust apr being cheaper and more powerful and a flash tune with abt being much more expensive (because of 2 year drivetrain warranty)and a add on box tho it comes with less power
    The tune i am looking at has 30nm less and 10hp less than the apr one but it does not give you the power until car is up to operating temp and all factory safety programs are still in use (mine is long term ownership so this is appealing even with a bit less power)
    From what i have read its more like a 2nd ecu rather than a ecu tricker like the jb1/jb4 which can overboost under wrong circumstances and can cause damage if used incorrectly(flame war start here lol)

    As for easy bolt ons i think a ram air might be reversible easily enough but anything else is a lot of time and effort

    At the end of the day, we are only talking 10 kw at the flywheel. Hardly a huge difference. Running on BP 98, the ECU should add a few extra anyhow as there is less need to pull timing out. Even the difference in temperature between night and day will impact on the kw at the flywheel. Finally, I assume the 10 kw difference is at very high RPM. The difference between the tunes is unlikely to be 10kw over the the entire power curve. Not worth arguing over imho.

    I'm also under the impression that the it's not quite as de-tuned as they make out, or only in certain circumstances. I'm pretty sure I've seen "before and after" tune Dyno runs and on the before runs, the cars are making the full 221kW.

    So I wonder if the car de-tunes automatically when the ambient temp hits a certain point?

    Well, 228 minus 213 equals 15kW, also known as 25hp. My tinnie screams along with 25hp on the transom. But, yep, maybe the 400nm might be more appreciated than the top end hp most of us rarely use.

    One of the 3 or 4 new reviews of the R just out, now the Aussie release is official ...

    2017 Volkswagen Golf R 7.5 review | MOTOR

    One of the negative comments relates to those enormous wheels wheels we'll be testing with our potholed roads. Anyone with a Mk7 had problems with their 19s ? And is anyone considering going back to 18's, after more than one review has the R hitting it's bump stops on more than one occasion during the review ?
