I've found that the RS gearbox has different behaviours. The R gearbox is more nanny state and I find that I regularly get 2 gears on a shift (as I shift at the same time as the car) or it decides it knows better and shifts early, particularly when it decides to downshift and engine brake when I want to roll through the corner on the torque.
Talking to some friends who have RS cars, theirs don't do that.
It's the behaviour that turned me off buying a DSG car (plus I enjoy manuals anyway).
