    What's the R ride like compared to the GTI? Obviously more power and 4MOTION plus a bit more weight. I mean, in comfort mode for example is it more or less the same as the GTI? Or is it noticeably bumpier across all driving modes?

    Don't know about the GTI but the Mk7 R rides better on 19s than the Mk6 R did on 18s. I just leave mine in normal mode for the suspension. Sport is too niggly and comfort is just not needed. People reckoned the Mk6 R was a better ride than the Mk6 GTI.

    hmm I beg to differ - I reckon my GTI rides nicer than my brother's R (and my other brother's R36 wagon for that matter).

    They do have 19s though so that might be a factor.
