Thread: Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread

  1. #2711

Money wasnt the point, its that the car is leased and I dont want to be changing too many things our that arent so easy to remove. Its a simply solution for a bit better sound without having to go for a full catback/turbo back exhaust. I do see where you are coming from however.

    Very interesting question.

Maybe I'm ham fisted, but other than the suspension settings (especially over jarring potholes or speed bumps etc), I can't really ascertain much difference between all the settings (other than Soundaktor of course!)...

Even then the differences in suspension settings are negligible, the R's suspension is quite soft yet compliant in all modes, at least to me.

I just leave mine in 'normal'. Perhaps after a few months on normal I'll put it into sports and then I'll notice the difference.

    Ahh fair enough...

Each to his own I suppose. The beauty of an unmodified R is its refinement. It's reasonably aggressive yet very compliant at the same time... Just changing out stuff to make a noise is (again in my view) an unnecessary distraction... I also reckon it sounds pretty good as it is..

Then again my view is coming from somebody who got sick of a stupidly modified golf, I'm enjoying the refinement of my new R at the moment. That may change however!

Check out the coilover option. Very easy to remove and you'll get some REAL performance and aesthetic gains there. KW do some wonderful kit, but so do others. The OEM tyres are surprisingly good, they would just sing with some decent adjustable suspension.

I think it is no longer a surprise for the Mk7 R to win almost every contest.

Had a chance to try 0-100 over the weekend, unfortunately slightly uphill but nonetheless 4.4secs after Exhaust/Intake/Tune.

Just waiting on this O2 sensor to head out to Willowbank.

so with exhaust/intake/tune this would be stage 2 yeah? Isn't the apr stage 1 tune meant to get sub 4s 0-100? Stock R gets 4.9s according to the article above. You sure your tune is all good?

Well the Audi RS3 was only just revealed a couple of days ago..... coincidence?
Could be a different limited edition model above the R?

No idea, as stated tho it was slightly inclined and I am pretty sure with the Mk7's the gains from exhaust/intake is not as significant as previous models.

Have to really wait and see what happens at the track and see how close we can get to that 12.2 figure...

Thought you would get better as well. DSG right?
You should be somewhat near me. 3.75 has been my best recorded 0-100 time and that was a slight incline of maybe 5%
