It wouldn't have died if it was stock and no tune and wouldn't have died with a down pipe and correct tune

I would have them source the part and do all the legwork and then all you pay for is part they foot the labour or vise versa

Yeah they are chasing up the part from VW for me. I am just trying to suss out how much it is going to set me back rather than having a surprise phone call when they get the price.

    Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread

Any modification from standard may void warranty as stated earlier. The thing is they have to prove that change is a direct cause of the problem.

And as said above, the intake takes 10-15min to change back to stock.

My local VW said to me that if i ever have any problems, take the tuning box and intake off and we will never know anything was there as we will assess the car as we see it. I guess my dealership is just nice that way.

    This^. Best solution.
And that is all good as long as whatever mods you did has not triggered TD1 flag. Then dealers will never know.

By the sounds of things anything can trip that flag. They would need to further prove that the flag was brought up by a modification.

Ummmm, so your local VW dealer knows you've modded the car and has told you what to do if you want a warranty claim and hasn't logged it in their system that you've modded the car? Can I please meet this VW dealer!!!
