G'day owners. How do you find the cruise on your R?
I loved the test drive and am I'm seriously thinking of one, but am keen to know rpm at 100/110 indicated.
I always felt like the R36 needed a lower 6th or a 7th- even more so after a recent drive in a stock 118 TSI hire car which was a very quiet and relaxed cruiser.

Hey Chris
I had a Mk7 R for a few months (before an fortunate run in with a 1 ton bull ) with my replacement R due next month. As I recall my R cruised at about 2.5k rpm at 110kmh, no drone, effortless cruising. On long cruises I'd pop it in 'Eco' mode which was quiet and presumably more fuel efficient. It's a great all rounder really, fantastic in the twisties, when you boot it instant response (the dsg super quick even better than the Mk6) and a fantastic angry exhaust note, but also a great family cruiser
Many thanks Andrew,
I read your story and I'm glad that you survived with no major damage other than to the metal.
Cheers

Hi all what do you guys think about buying a demo model or near new? A few on car sales going for under 60k? Will be APR tuning when it gets released.
Finally picked up my Golf R Friday night and what a neat piece of kit it is. The people at Southern VW did a great job getting it ready for me for the weekend, even though the car was sitting for a couple of days at a depot holding yard waiting for delivery (out of the control of VW)
Now about the car
The car is awesome.
Cheers,
Jason
Guys- what do you think of the "leather"?
I'm planning to order in the next week and the one thing which is making me reconsider is the look of the rear seat. Saggy daggy from day one and presumably, that's the best it will ever be. Audi leather really kills it.
I'm drawn towards fabric, but worry about the staining the pale grey of the bolsters given my love of jeans.
I'd be keen to have some thoughts.
