Can't think of any pre-delivery check that needs that much!
Interesting that my dealer offered to deliver my car to my home - I wonder if that is partly to cover up a bit of joyriding!
(I will pick it up from VW next week - can't wait to see the ODO reading!)
    Seriously?
Anything with less than 30km is fine.
    Mine had 15km.

They do have to get these things out of the factory, onto a truck, onto a boat, off a boat, do complaince and pre-delivery checks etc.

    There you go.
Only new cars I have had previously have been Japanese, with 6.7 and 5.2 respectively.
    Thanks for setting me straight!

Perry, I have an A4 1.8TFSI that uses at least a couple of litres of oil a year between services. A known problem with some of these engines. Made worse with the CVT in mine. I would put a litre of oil in yours and service it in two months or just before you sell it. Alternatively book it straight in for a service early next week and ignore the low oil for a couple of days.

    Can a mk7 R owner answer a question I have please?

On the R headlight, what is the light in the small area? (Yellow box in below image)

I know there is a corner light on the side of it and the U shape DRL, but is there anything else there or is it just for decoration?

    Thanks

This is another horseshoe DRL, exclusive to the R. All Bi-Xenon fitted GTI models only get a single DRL per side. However, if it's the internal light you are refering to, this is the halogen high beam for flashing, but also suppliments the Bi-Xenon lamp in high beam mode.

Yep, it was the internal light I was referring to. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

the front bit in the middle does not seem to do anything. but if you look from its side, inside there is a halogen bulb for static cornering lighting (in conjunction with the dynamic bixenon for cornering). similar in Tiguan bixenon headlights.

high beam would be from the bixenon only.

below is bixenon from non R golf 7.

As a matter of interest on the topic and in no way related to VW, I know that Mercedes used to (and may still) be able to reset the Km's on their cars to zero a certain number of times if they were under a certain number of Km's (if my memory serves correct it was somewhere in the region 3 times under 100kms). So your 'brand new' almost zero km car, may in fact have done a few hundred K's through the process of a PD service and test drives etc. Personally, I think I would prefer to know the real K's than be under the illusion that it had done no K's.
