I'd much prefer the 18" wheels - wonder if that is possible?
Both of these subjects have been covered extensively in this thread. My original post regarding wheels can be found on page 52: Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread - Page 52

Thanks for pointing it out Mikey1. Been reading this thread but somehow missed that from you. Cheers.

So for those in Sydney North Shore there's a dealer with two from the batch landing 10/4 that aren't pre-ordered yet. Not sure what specs tho.

No options as of yet but they said i could still change. They only offer 3 options which was leather, sunroof and driver assistance and my reasoning for not choosing any is 'its darwin, u dont need a sunroof, leather is too hot up here and if you need driver assistance with a golf you shouldnt be on the road'.

Ive seen enough reviews from around the world and most of them are saying its better then the s3 and a45 as an overall package. Im also stepping up from a polo GTi so itll be better then that anyway.

seakas, I like your logic. However, I do think you should give further consideration to the Driver Assistance Package, which includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which would be a useful tool when cruising around, assuming of course there are other cars on the road in front of yours. Also included are Front Assist and City Emergency Brake, which works off the same radar sensor, but these on there own probably fit in the "you shouldn't be on the road" category you suggested. I would hope the cost of this option is less than that for the GTI, as Park Assist 2 has been excluded from the Driver Assistance Package. If VGA do not adjust the price, this will be disappointing but not unexpected.

It's a pity that the driver assist package looks like you've already run up the back of someone with that box in the lower grille. Just for aesthetics I'd skip it, plus I wouldn't utilise it at all.. but ultimately it's good tech that's filtering down.

Thumbs up on the lapiz blue choice Sekas, great choice.

Agreed on all points Dutch; the only curve ball is that the City Emergency Brake may result in substantially lower insurance premiums if fitted. I wonder how many years of reduced premiums it'd take to justify the cost?

You get use to the sensor in the lower grill and don't realize it's there.

When we ordered our GTI we didn't tick the DA package, but thought about over two weeks then went back to the dealer and added it. It's well worth the money! Acc is brilliant on long trips.

True - if it ever became cost effective then I'd be happy to look at it. Given that I've got a quote from a decent company back at 600 odd (for a GTI), then I'd be surprised if they could ever discount it by more than $50.. in which case it wouldn't pay for itself.

I'm sure you do, I still can't believe that it's the best VW could come up with, it's almost like they deliberately put it on show to highlight the car is running something 'different'.

I'm in the minority, I just don't use cruise so wouldn't be using the other things.. I realise for a lot of people its good tech because they do.

I'm loathe to bring up our friend the S3 again but does it run this is standard or an option? I just don't recall seeing any Audis with the radar up front anywhere..
