Buy White R, sell off standard wheels & Tyres ($2k maybe??) fit these. Wheel dilemma over...
Attachment 8894
Dropped into Springwood VW today to have a look at the new R. Was definitely underwhelmed initially by its looks. I kept looking at it from different angles hoping something would just make me think: WOW. But nothing. What i did like more than the rest was the rear end. Loved the quads and the dark tinted tail lights.
The car does have a nice ride height though. I think they got that right.
Interior looks too similar to my Highline. Well identical really. The exception being instrument cluster and different ambient lighting & push button start (Do want). But that's fine with me. The interior of the Highline was what sealed the deal when i was contemplating buying ours. I know some wont agree but i do like the seats. Sure, they're not uber aggressive but they are fit for purpose. They felt supportive yet not overly tight ala Evo Recaro's etc.
The other thing i noticed straight away was that the car had a radar, so was fitted with DA, but had no side sensors for park assist 2. Apparently it is not included on the DA package. Probably why it is only $1k now.
Was asked if i wanted to go for a spin but i declined due to lack of time. I think he was keen as it looked very quiet and all the salespeople where just standing around. I must say though, as a plug for Highway Auto VW @ Spingwood, Han Kim (The salesmen who sold us ours) is a genuinely nice guy. It has been nearly a year since we bought ours but he remembered me as soon as i walked in. He is easy to talk to and actually listens to you and waits for you to stop talking. I dislike when salesmen try to talk over you. Just f&*king listen to me, speak when you're spoken to, and say yes when i throw a unreasonable offer at you! hahaha.
So, would i upgrade just because of looks and standard equipment? No. But i am sure after a nice long drive i may change my mind.
