Given DrK obtained a confirmed deal of $61.3K in Victoria, there is a $9.5K difference here, which is in the ballpark that I had predicted and stated in my previous posts (for Victoria).
Must be great being right all the time. If you got such a great deal on the S3 will you manage the same with the R

Mk7 Rs putting on a show

There are a half dozen or so Mk7 Rs doing handling testing at Bankstown Airport (Sydney) today, and I believe up until Tuesday. There's no public access to airside (unless you've got an ASIC card), but the cars, drivers, and techs are set up right next to the terminal building, so it wouldn't be hard to talk to them through the fence. The testing area is another 120m towards the runways, but the view is unobstructed. I shouldn't think it worth a drive to get there, but those in the area might be interested to take a look.

I have no idea what you are asking or implying. The point of my post was to dismiss some of the comments that the actual on-road price difference is so minimal that all prospective Golf R customers should direct their business to Audi. As has been correctly pointed out, some forum members have been fortunate enough to be able to negotiate incredible deals for the S3 and Golf R, but others will not have, myself included.

My dealer told me this morning that my fully-optioned (roof, leather, assist pack) is $68k driveaway.

That's prior to test drive, negos etc.

At that price my initial thoughts - meh...

New Golf R now listed on Volkswagen Australia web site

Here is the link to all Golf variants: Golf variants < Golf < Models & Pricing < Volkswagen Australia

You can also download the new Golf Performance Range brochure, which covers GTI, GTI Performance and R models - a 40 page document.

Please all review and reply back with your comments.

To commence proceedings, I noticed that for Alloy wheels (various designs) 18" and 19", this Volkswagen Genuine Accessory (Dealer Fitted) is Not available for the R. This supposedly includes the Pretoria wheels, but according to my local dealer spare parts department, these wheels are listed on the spare parts inventory at approximately $1,800 each (inclusive of GST). I can't see too many people purchasing a set of 4 for around $7,200. My dealer wasn't too keen on doing any discounted changeovers.

I can see a lot of second hand sets of 19" Golf R wheels appearing on EBay later this year. I suspect a lot of people will be swapping to aftermarket. At least the tyres will be a straight swap. You can get a whole set of alloys for less than $1800!
    Looking for:- RS4 B7 Avant.
Current:- Amarok V6 Sportline; Mazda CX-9 Azami AWD
Previous - Mk 6 R manual; Mk 7 R manual; Passat 130 TDi Wagon. Mk 7.5 Wolfsburg Wagon.

I am implying that you did not do very well at negotiating on an S3 (and consequently, why would you expect a different result on an R). I'm asking why you cherry pick the best price you've seen online for an R against your pricing for an S3. I am saying your numbers are twaddle.
