Since I bought an R last month I notice there is little rattle sound from the front ceiling (plastic stuff) next to the reaview mirror. Have you noticed?
I will have the health check with a VW dealer soon, I wonder if they can fix it.

    Hello Apue,
I am sad to see your post of your rattle.

My wife hates rattles in the car and I can't hear them. Profund hearing loss will do that to you. But she can hear a bee fart!

Anyone else with the Golf Mk 7.5 series suffer from rattles?

I did read that some UK Mk 7.5 R Wagons rear struts had rattles like logs rolling in the rear.

Surely there is some other rattles out there?

    Cheers Al

Zero rattles car is solid as a rock I've covered almost 18K now very impressive build, from new it did have an under floor buzz which I tracked down to the firewall/under floor fuel lines creating an intermittent annoying buzz around 2000 rpm rectified by the dealer after input from me and much forum browsing. Luckily seems to be a rare problem but if present would spoil an otherwise brilliant car. Otherwise super impressed with the car.

I had a few from the side doors which seem to get worse when accelerating. Took it back to VW a few times but they didn't seem to completely get rid of it.
Compared to my Mk7, My 7.5 is not quite as solid imo =/
    Still love it though!

My service is due right now and does anyone have any recommendations for servicing in the inner west/north in Melbourne? My default has been Essendon.

    Hi WallySimmonds,
Strange as the MK7 would have evovled into the MK7.5.

Do you know Gav HW100 on here in Polo forum?

Gav works at UGP and said VW at Camberwell dealer is good. Why not have UGP do your service?

Is it possible to have race mode for the engine but non-sport mode for the DSG? I want better engine response and gear shift points but I want it to automatically shift up to top gear when I get to the end of the freeway on-ramp without having to switch the driving mode back to “normal”.

On the 7 speed dsg you can just flick the lever down and you’ll change back into D from S while in any mode and vice versa.

Though from what you’re asking .. It’s D or it’s S so you’re gonna need to flick it back when you get on the on ramp.

Yes just toggle the gearshift bouncing the lever back just switches SDSDSD... so easy to use, head into a roundabout or twisty roads, ramps or just want some extra go bounce, bounce your done.

If you want more customization you can go a TCU tune.

Another alternative is to use the left steering wheel paddle to temporarily change down to the gear you want for the "lively" on-ramp response, then it will automatically revert back to D mode soon(ish) after you back off when you've attained your freeway speed.
