My R would have been built around this time as well - I'm disappointed I didn't use the drawer before I retired her.

Hey guys,
What are you using for dashcams (if you are at all?) I've got a A119s sitting in a box ready to go, but just wondering if I should get something like a Thinkware 850 - motion detection seems a bit better?
Wally
I've got a dual channel A129 connected to a cell link neo with a 3 wire hardwire kit that goes into parking mode when ignitions off and full recording when on. The cellink gives me 24hrs continuous parking surveillance.
Good image quality/price. Motion detection is a bit **** unless you get a blackvue or thinkware with buffered recording. I find it's easier to just leave the camera running full time.
In the Mrs car I installed a multi safer which utilises the car battery and set a cut off at 12.2v. It gives her about 8hrs of parking surveillance. She has two single Channel A119s which IMHO are the best bang for buck cameras on the market.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I was wondering if anyone has any issues with there mk7 R leaking coolant from their oil cooler. Also does anyone know the location of this oil cooler. I had my thermostat and water pump replaced after that was leaking but now I’m leaking again and my mechanic thinks it might be from the oil cooler.
Cheers

No this is the oil cooler for the engine oil. Mine is a manual. Thanks anyway.

Anyone had a tap tap feeling through the floor at low speeds. It's like a stone was in the tyre tread but it's not. I noticed it between 20-50km/hr. The passenger can feel it too.
Can't seem to pinpoint what it is. Seems more noticeable when the vehicle is cold.

Anyone on here know if the current/new MY19 7.5 R WAGON has active rear mufflers?
I have searched enormously the forum and the R threads but cannot find the answer.
I would swear that when i poked my head under the rear of the two demos I drove they had the active valved mufflers but I cannot be sure my memory is accurate nor can i find out the answer online elsewhere either, in other forums or images posted etc.
I know the first R wagons had fake quad outlets where only two of the pipes actually worked, not sure if they were the Wolfsburgs, and later models maybe 7.5, brought real quad outlets that were all operational. But not sure about active mufflers at all.
Info from recent new owners of R wagons welcome!
edit: checked a my18 7.5 out the other night at a dealer and it has 4 working pipes at the back. Unsure if my19 will bring any change.
I'd be surprised if they did change to active (valved) mufflers on the MY19 R wagons. These days VW seem to moving towards more and more de-contenting to save money, not adding extra (more costly) hardware.
Golf R's have valves that open and close depending on the mode selected.
I'm certain this won't be removed as it makes the sound of the car more throaty.
I've also never read about mk7's only having quads for show however know that my18's are using them
