Posted in the MY19 thread as well, but some updates...

Volkswagen Golf R gets a European power cut | CarAdvice

Did anyone else manage to secure a decent deal during EOFY sales? I emailed around a few dealers but didn't get very far. Even my lease provider is giving me some pretty average pricing atm - I suspect it's because I'm non-negotiable on Lapiz Blue..

Given its an 8kw cut when we are about 10kw less here in Australia hopefully this will either bring us in line or have no impact..

As I have mentioned in other threads, I think this could actually be decent for Australia. What I'm hoping for is that we'll get the 'detuned' 220KW motor but torque figures remain at 400NM

For those of us who have bought in last 6 months or so, have you been told and taken advantage of the dealer offered free 'pitstop services' ?

I cant find any intel on this aside from discussions with dealer and its service dept directly - it sounds like a free walk in without booking type check up for new vehicles. I was advised this could be done every few thousand kms or so if i wanted before first services. I would guess only a cursory check is done ( ie no oil change or software code check etc) ?

One could take the cynical view that they're looking to create business for themselves. But seeing VAG is paying, woo hoo.

After many months of research, deliberation and negotiation, I have finally put a deposit down on a Lapiz Blue Grid with Sunroof/Dap. Pretty stoked, and can't wait to pick it up.

    Grats Wally!!!

Folks, just a question on mine re rear view mirror and auto dimming feature. Do the grids get this standard? I have a rimless mirror, with no buttons on it for auto dim on/ off.

Also I cant really tell if there is any auto dim at night. Ie no green tint to mirror like in my old mkV, and no visible dimming to headlights in rear (mind you mostly inner city urban drives so far, so lots of light pollution period).

is auto dimming on the grids a clearly visible feature (assuming it is a feature)? If so mine might be not working.

My GTI also has a rimless mirror, but it does have auto-dimming.
There are no buttons to turn on or off, and nothing in the settings menu.
The GTI Original has auto-dimming interior mirror, so I would expect the R Grid to have it.
Missing the auto-dimming driver side mirror from my EOS though.
