Has anybody attempted to put the 9.2” screen and MIB unit from a 2018 into a 2016?
I just got the parts from the wreckers but have no idea about component protection or coding Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread

Why would you? The physical buttons are much better on the older model imo

Question for the Golf R owners from an Arteon owner.

Do you get leaves in your intercooler and gearbox cooler intake areas?

I'm getting leaves and can't find a clever/easy way to remove them.

Big 9.2” screen for CarPlay instead of tiny 6.5” that has tiny on screen buttons. Better contrast/brightness and more modern looking interior. Plus the discover pro extra features like performance monitor.

I do agree the lack of volume button is a bad thing but I use the steering wheel controls 90% of the time Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread

GTIW, now that I've seen the Spielberg's in person they were actually not as bad as I expected....so I might just keep them OEM for a few weeks and see how I go. What's your plan? Didn't cop a look at the Grid badge, a Wolfsburg badge would be better!
Yeah the spielbergs are growing on me a little, but jury is still out so to speak. If swapping out, don't think I would go for black rims now.. a little too 'fresh' for my liking

Each to their own on the grid badge, but i prefer clean look on the back and the badge is somewhat cheap looking to me. Plus mine was slightly off centre. Its quite easy to remove.

I went to VW twice for software update and both times stated didn't exist and wouldn't do it with out hours of diagnostic fees. The second trip to VW Glen Waverley I paid for hour diagnostic and found pump was issue so they didn't do software.

I then had pump replaced by Simon at Peerless who then had more than a day of arguments with VW to get the software installed. Can't say how annoyed and disappointed I am with VW and their service.

I had my haldex serviced at about 30k km mark and started to feel issue about 35k mark as I didn't drive hard often I let it go. I had to do service, DSG service and tyres at 40k km and found then needed water pump replacement. So put off again investigating haldex.

Car now 50k km and pump was blocked and caused starvation which can happen but strange to happen after haldex service. I'm told that VW generally don't check/clean the filter and just do fluids so I'd suggest when you get haldex service done make sure that filter is checked/cleaned if needed.

I still absolutely LOVE my car and way it performs with the mods I've done but it's definitely left me disappointed to have both Water pump and haldex pump fail and VW pathetic customer service. Hopefully I now have few years trouble free and can just enjoy the car again.

TBH- I'd never get another VW not because of the part failures but treatment. I'd get Audi S3 next time as all my dealings with them have been 10/10 every time when car shopping for s3 and service, warranty work and repair after wife ran over rock. Guess I'm lucky that leasing company got amazing deal on Audi for us and get corporate servicing so no more VW in future.

I still think the Grid R amazing deals and love my car but the customer service ruined it for me. I hope none of you go through same thing.
So mine is just over four years old, 40,000km and serviced religiously by a specialist VW shop in North Parra. Thought it was the tyres wearing down but unfortunately it is the Haldex pump. $900 thanks very much.

Has anyone had any luck getting VW to honour replacement out of warranty? It seems to be a common issue and given service isn't due till 60k I would have thought the part failing well prior is not fit for purpose. Should I ring VW or Fair Trading?

    thanks/

^ Should definitely be covered by VWA under goodwill given a known item to fail. Have you had the repair done yet? Obviously easier to get it done/authorized by VWA before the replacement is performed rather than retrospectively.

    Popped in,

Dealer wants $185 to scan for the fault code and then will submit to VW for a decision. He is saying it is unlikely as the Haldex service is apparently due at 3yrs or 45,000 which I think is BS. Quoted me $3000 to fix if VW doesn't come to the party. Again I call BS... it is a $650 part which I told him and he got all funny after that.

Any reputable, trustworthy service departments not located in Five Dock or Leichhardt I should try in Sydney or am I better of just fixing it with my reputable, trustworthy VW specialist in Nth Parramatta?
