They eventually went down to the rrp price but said the my16 prices had gone up.
I decided that's a load of bs and kept my original gti pp order. Shame as I do really like the R!
Maybe I'd sell the GTI in a few years and get the mk8 R or hopefully by that time tesla will have the model 3 which should have mind boggling acceleration.
When I called to confirm my GTI PP was MY16, the dealer tried spinning me some sh*t about the prices going up because of the new features. I didn't say anything while he "looked it up on his computer". I obviously knew about all the pricing structure changes but I let him talk just because I was interested in seeing what he'd try and pull. He actually tried to tell me that the price of my car had changed after I had already ordered it. As in he implied I'd have to pay more now! I just said "sorry mate, its a lease. The price is locked in" and just let him be.
Point is (I suppose), do your research first. Many of us around here seem to do that well :)
That would be true, except the dealers are having no trouble selling the MY16 (therefore less willing/likely to drop that low) with MY15's still lying around with stock only potentially arriving before December and the DAP2 option is a little more expensive ($500 more than DAP 1 which you would have from memory) meanwhile the corporate discount is less (at least over $500 less than before). You must have run a hard bargain when you got yours, best price I've heard! Was that in NSW? or one of the cheaper states?
GoGTI, I'll second that Tesla!
Nsw. I found them all pretty hard. But when I walked in (sutherland vw) and said im here to sign if the price is right, they knew I was no tyre kicker....they need to know you are serious. Initially they came to me with $62500, I said take 2k off for the deal. And 10 minutes later they agreed. ...no corp discount either (which I think is bs) btw!!!
