I accelerate and turn hard when nobody's around and safe to do so. No burnouts, no track days.
Brief look into the Potenza RE050As shows ranges between 80,000 and 25,000kms. I assume 80,000 are more careful and gentle drivers and cars relating to their personality, and 25,000 from more high powered cars.
I'm no expert, i'm the first to admit, hence why i'm here to learn from more experienced Golf R owners.

I agree, and it was tempting to have el cheapo tires on my car saving several hundred dollars, but i was hoping that someone had knowledge and facts about them (there isn't much data about them), hoping for a surprise. Someone who actually had a set, not just what they think and assume.

Appologies for any drama i've caused.
you may want to get proper alignment from a specialist alignment place (not just any bob jane or jax).

i had RE050A in my previous GTI and they lasted around 20,000km with at least 4 track days and 15+ Happy Laps (30mnts session on race track cruise). When I replaced them, they still had 2mm thread depth, but one tyre had had a puncture. However, I check all my tyres regularly (I always have at least 2 sets for my GTI and now R) and rotate them at least every 3 months.

but yeah, don't go cheap with tyres. although I personally saw a ($500k when new) Bentley running on chinese made Nankang tyres here, parked in Brisbane CBD once.

Fulcrum (tyres&more) strathpine where i bought my AD08R (same owner as albion motorsport) did a good job on my R. You can ask to get it done per factory specs or other specs (tyres longevity or handling).

Rick's wheel.alignment at bowen hills.also does good job.

    Mk7 Golf R Discussion Thread

I get my tyres through Don Cornell in Sydney, great pricing and fast delivery. Got mine to darwin in 4days. I purchased 8x michelin Pilot super sports(normally $560 a tyre) for $340 each plus $35 a tyre delivered. The $340 wasnt because bulk either, just how low he could go.
A lot of people run these tyres and correct me if im wrong from my research but its what Bugatti, porsche, ferrari and BMW use(what their website says).

Great grip, great rim protection, lots of threads comparing tyres in here and vwgolf that rate them highly.

Check the wheel and tyre thread for the discounted price on these. There's no excuse for putting cheap no-name tyres on your car.
