Not just you Nat, I would never put low performance tyres on a high performance car!

They don't need to be Pirelli Pzero Trofeo R at $800ea either, the Hankook s1Evo2 are highly regarded on the R at about $275ea.

    I personally have Continental ContiSportContact 5P but they're $380ea

I've had 2 set's of the Bridgestone S001, been very happy with them on my GTi . The last set cost $800 plus fitting .

You can have a set of German made Goodyear FIA2 for $1070 from Melbourne (Croydon Goodyear)

    4 x 235/35r19 - $1070

    Good price on Goodyear Tyres

It is amazing some people just pay full retail prices for tyres, but without these people the tyre industry won't continue...
Thanks mate. I'll get in touch with you in a couple weeks for a set.
    Appreciate your assistance greatly

It came with a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 235/35/R19 91Y which i will soon need to be replaced which cost around $430 each.

I saw these, Mayrun MR500 235/35/R19 91Y which are a "cheap" Chinese brand for $145 each.

Does anyone have any experience or advice on these?

I don't really do anything crazy on my car, mainly freeway kms and passing through roundabouts in a 100km zone.

With the low cost, i could wear out around 3 sets for the same price as a set of Bridgestones.

Anyone have experience, knowledge or opinions with Mayruns?
Really? You spend sixty thousand dollars on a car and then won't spend a few grand replacing the tyres? and you want to put cheap crappy tires on that will not just nobble the handling but probably kill the ride comfort and increase the road noise?

There is not much difference between cheap tyres and good tyres when you are cruising along in the sun at 100 on the freeway.

The BIG difference is when you are doing 100, its raining, and something unexpected happens that requires you to avoid a collision, then that extra thousand bucks suddenly looks very, very cheap.

    Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me if the VWR 600 intake is available locally or does it have to be purchased from the US/UK? Shipping was the same price as the intake itself and Im not sure I can stomach that right now.

All text in bold doesn't add up. If you don't do anything crazy and it's all mainly freeway driving, how on earth have you killed tyres after 17,000kms.

Had my car in for its 15,000 service a couple weeks back and they mentioned that after rotation, the front wheels had 2mm and back had 4 at the indicators. New tires have 8mm.
I accelerate and turn hard when nobody's around and safe to do so. No burnouts, no track days.
Brief look into the Potenza RE050As shows ranges between 80,000 and 25,000kms. I assume 80,000 are more careful and gentle drivers and cars relating to their personality, and 25,000 from more high powered cars.
I'm no expert, i'm the first to admit, hence why i'm here to learn from more experienced Golf R owners.

I agree, and it was tempting to have el cheapo tires on my car saving several hundred dollars, but i was hoping that someone had knowledge and facts about them (there isn't much data about them), hoping for a surprise. Someone who actually had a set, not just what they think and assume.

Appologies for any drama i've caused.
